MID WEEK MADNESS

Hi Guys! Its that time of the week lets see your progress. I have been a busy bee with the new section started laying Roadbed and im waiting on the track to arrive,Also built a few structures ive had in the closet for this section ,Here it goes
Carl[:D]

I will post more later …[;)]

Hey Carl nice pics once again. Your made a lot of progress since you first started posting here. [:O] I got pictures on my camera of the layout but I have to wait to gte my new bridge kit finished so i can show a how to on it.

miranda’s bannana’s looks nice. Can’t wait till I get mine!
Andrew

Holy Moley, it’s that time AGAIN? Hey, Carl, you’re just zooming along with progress, my friend. I admire you for not only working a lot on the MR this summer, but being able to beat that Phoenix heat while doing so. We’re still in a 100+ cycle here in Sacramento, so not much work in the garage, lately.
Did snap a photo of my new Zephyr at Wagon Wheel Gap, this week. I’d forgotten that streamliners just kind of ‘glide’ along the tracks–fascinating. Does this mean that the Diseasel Bug has finally bit? Dang, I HOPE not, LOL!
Tom [:D]

tom thats a great shot! I would love to have one of those, but i did see the real one in chicago in the museum of sciance and industry, they have the real one there,What a sight

Carl

Nice photos…it looks like you’ll have great scenery!!

Richard

These aren’t modeling pictures, but I was fortunate enough to be hauled, this past weekend, by this 1916 rebuilt 2-8-0 that took over 100,000 hours of volunteer labour.

Crandell,
I reconize that engine! Its the Kamnloops Heritage Train isn’t it? I was up there two weeks ago but had to attend a wedding instead of riding the train.

Here is a pic of a shop building i built for my refinery area.

Selector: I WANT ONE!! I always thought that CN had some of the handsomest 2-8-0’s (among other wheel types) I’ve ever seen. Can’t see the cars too well, but the first two passenger cars behind it look British. Is that so, or are they just ‘tourist’ cars and the angle makes them look that way? Was that photographed on Vancouver Island, or the mainland? The scenery looks REALLY inviting!
Tom [:D]

Glen, you have a sharp eye. Too bad fooli***hings like weddings get in the way of serious railroading…oh, it wasn’t your wedding, was it? [:D]

Tom, that engine is funny. It seems small at a distance, as a 2-8-0 is compare to a mallet, but it is quite large when you are getting a good look at the big cast yoke under thr boiler front! The loco is really sweet…a really frst class job of refurbishing it. All drivers are flanged, and it seems to be in good shape. The generator is missing; they use a portable built into each of the tender back and into the belly of the rear car, a lounge car. The first cars are a locally and purpose-built open carriage with several sideways facing benches…a pretty good job.

Scenery is Kamloops, BC, in the south-central interior, and the rather large area is semi-arid; great for tomatos, cherries, plums, ginseng, etc. Really hot, lots of sage and tumble-weed, Pondarosa pines, etc. You’d feel right at home!!

Crandell,
No it wasn’t my wedding but my wife insitsted on going, priorities I guess.
I took pictures of the open cars, they seem to be built on flatcar frames (at least I think) I also took pics of the other rolling stock parked on the siding across from the station.
This weekend I’m riding the Ketle valley steam train out of Summerland, I’ll take pics and post when I can.

I have not made much progress on the layout but here are some shots from New Orleans last February. My wife had a conference and I had time to explore the French Quarter

Mardi Gras was just over and beads were hanging every where. I don’t know if you can see any in the shots.

No photography this time - instead I’ll show you my dreams. If all goes as planned, we’ll be moving into our new (to us) house on the 20th of August. Because it has a single car garage, my wife has agreed to cede the majority of it to me for my layout. This is the vision I have for future expansion (current layout is the “2x8 original”).

For you railfans, I forgot to post this image of a CPR mixed freight negotiating the tricky grades and curves of the mighty Fraser River valley in central BC on Sunday. I thought it was colourful, and somewhat scenic.

Vantage point is about 300’ above the tracks, with me standing roadside of the Trans-Canada highway.

Enjoy.

update.Something ive been throwing together, does this look up to the date ?

ill get more detailing on it later with the new section

Carl…

Yeah Carl, but I’m afraid to see the price on the sign out front.[;)] You’ll need one of those 7 segment displays. An old clock would be perfect, because it would be able to go over $10 per gallon.[:0]

I spent my afternoon turning my hair grayer than it already is, out in the garage cutting Homasote into roadbed strips. After a shower and dinner, I managed to get 32’ of it down.

The pink foam in this shot is under a temporary cutoff. The Homasote is where the real mainline goes. I have to go about 100’ per main before I can remove the cutoff.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. That’s why Red Wing is almost fully operational.[8D]
