i was watching the antique tractor programing on rfdtv and they did a story on a small threshing show in mosurri and they had a railroad. the locomotives look like the ones from the mount pleasent iowa show. are they shared or dose the mosurri show own them now? yall have a safe and happy steam season big boy
Hmmm… I’d have a hard time believing that they’d get rid of Mount Pleasant’s locos. The Old Thresher’s Reunion there is always held over Labor Day weekend, and the train loop through the grounds is a big draw. If we weren’t so preoccupied with hosting a big reception that weekend, I’d head on down and see what’s happening.
i would go to but i am going to work at rollag minnesota that weekend just like every weekend. we have soo 353 in two bays of the roundhouse yet and the show is in a couple of weeks, but we are praying for a mericale to pull this project off but i should get going. yall have a safe and happy steam season big boy
For whatever its worth, Mt. Pleasant had their train running on the 4th of July. Interesting little loop of track they’ve got there.
We went down there for the big reunion back in 1979, and IIRC they actually had two trains running on that loop, both with steamers. Is that still possible?
I suppose they could… only saw one steamer running, lots of scrap metal, I mean, stuff awaiting restoration… They fired-up a little diesel and ran it long enough to get out of the way of the steamer. Short loop, but with a little common sense, I would imagine they could run two at once.
awww man there’s a RR named midwest central? that’s almost exactly like the name i have for my made-up road. “midwestern central”. well i’m not changing it…
I love that railroad we go back there every year since my uncle lives in town. Great narrow gauge railroad! Has a westside shay too. I got to ride in the cab of their mogul once too. If your ever in the area stop by, they are always working in the shop.
“Midwest Central” has to be the most redundant name I’ve ever heard.
It’s also the “New” name of the high school in my hometown. There was a consolidation of schools. They had to come up with a new name. They came up with “Midwest Central”. Oh well, “Go Raiders”.
