ok, how many of you midwestern folks stayed home today and ran your trains while there was a blizzard outside? Of course, as it was with the story book " The night the lights went out" you can’t run your electric trains when the power is out. I was lucky - my trains ran right through the blizzard on time. But many in the region had no power because of the “Northeaster”. Comments???
We had our blizzard last Friday; but I was at work for all 15 minutes of it and so couldn’t run trains.

No blizzard, but power was off for 5 hours…
My part of Wisconsin was under a blizzard warning starting last night already. We are still under one officially until midnight. There have been high winds most of the day, and that is supposed to continue through the night. I think we have had 10-12 inches of snow. Much of that is blowing around now. The high tomorrow is forecast for +7 degrees. Today was definitely a day to stay inside and run trains. I normally have Wed off during the week anyway so it seemed normal except for the 2.5 hours I spend cleaning off the driveway. I had a great time running trains off and on, reading and generally just enjoying the first real blast of winter.

Let it snow, let it snow!!! I love it when it snows on you Yanks. [Do leave the power on though. Don’t want them cold and in the dark.]
It’s unfortunate for those who suffer due to inclement weather and other disasters,
During a blizzard the best is to, for those who can and should, stay home and play with their trains.
One of my past occupations didn’t allow me the luxury of staying home and playing with my trains, as I would liked to have done.
Many times I had to, as a lot of others had and most still do, brave the inclement weather to get to work and perform in the inclement weather, due to the nature of the occupation.
I would much rather be comfortable and play with my trains.

Looks like A Christmas Story here. Everything snowy and frozen. But we’re fortunate to have buried utility lines so still have power. Temp is now up to 4 without the wind. Hope to run trains later.
As it happens I was off work both Tuesday (vacation) and Wednesday (my regular day off). I ended up having to snowblow both days, Wednesday it was so tightly packed where the street was plowed that I had to break it up with a shovel to get the little snowblower through. Had my bowling league Wed. night, did pretty good considering my back was pretty sore.
I had planned to get some trainwork done, but found out I had forgotten to get something at the hobby shop so couldn’t do anything. O well, I recall being a rural mail carrier this time of year when it snowed for like three days straight and I had to try to navigate unplowed roads to deliver mail. Guess a little inconvenience isn’t anything to whine about in comparison.
It is up to 12 degrees in Chicago. Have some errands to run and then the dog and I will go over to the forest and get our exercise. Will be shorter then normal, BUT, one has to do what one has to do. Thankfully the wind appears to have died down.
Spent this morning packaging up orders for good old Super “O” track.
Happy Holidays to All,

Was lucky here weather wise even though i’m in WNY. Wind is the problem here by me. Snow wise all i got here was about 2 inches my GF’s place is about 20 miles north of me and as of noon she still didn’t have any snow on the ground. On the other hand 30 miles south of me they are said to of gotten 2-3 feet by the end of the night gota love lake effect snow.
