Milling Machine

Hello,

I saw a post cocerning bench top milling machines. The MAXNC is very good. With the extended table you can produce large brick walls, windows, or any other detail you wish.Write the program and you have unlimited parts. I use styene 1/8 thick.

I also used it to drill sub plates for my under table switch machines. These are made from plexiglass.

The MAXNC website is www.maxnc.com

What is the cost?

A quick check of the web site link – nearly $1,000 for what seems to be the cheapest model, the MAXNC5. And if it’s like other machines of this type, by the time you add the necessary “accessories” the price could nearly double.

I knew a guy who about 20 years ago was making mini-cnc milling machines. He would buy a 'hobby-mill from Sears. He would add some cheap servo motors and then use a Radio -shack ‘Color- computer’ for the controller. Cost was about $500. I wish I could find him now.
