Did The Milwaukee Road ever have yellow painted refrigerator cars or were they always orange? Also, what years were the 50’ brown boxcars painted with the yellow stripe found on the railroad?
The original wood reefers were in the ‘Reefer Yellow’ paint scheme. The ‘Orange’ reefers came post WWII.
The insulated 50’ plug door cars were delivered in a couple of batches - in the 1958-1959 time frame. They came with that paint scheme from the factory. There were some 40’ rib-side box cars painted in a similar paint scheme.
