Milwaukee Road's PCE from your chair.

I don’t know how many of you have Google Earth, but it is probably the coolest thing to come along since Google it’s self. To get Earth, go to Google.com, click on the “more>>” tab and Earth is down on the left colmn. Click on Earth and get the free version. Once you have Earth open it and type in say “deer lodge, mt” for starters and once it stops zooming in, at the top right corner of your screen you can see the outline of the old Milwaukee roundhouse and yard. Try typing in some other stops on the Road and see what you can dig up.

This is an interesting site. It is one that I have used in the past to locate “remains” of various manmade things - from houses, mines, railroads, roads, cemeteries, and so on. Useful.

“Nanaimo73” compiled an astounding set of links for the MILW off of Terraserver, I believe. Just an enormous amount of work. Very interesting to following the aerial photos.

Thanx, MichaelSol for the link to Nanaimo73’s compilation. I still have dial up so Google Earth is not an option. I’ve used TerraServer since its inception. It’s still good. And Nanaimo73 did a lot of homework making TServer still a great tool.
