MILW's Southwest Division (CP still operating?)

NBT

I live in Delavan so I can add a bit. Stock Lumber in Delavan makes lumber framing components and account for a good bit of inbound traffic. Continental Plastic gets a hopper car of plastic pellets-couple a month I would guess. There is a siding into Inter-Tractor just south of I-43 near the end of track in Elkhorn. I have seen gons sitting on the siding in the past there , but not for some time. I think there is also a feed-mill and a small lumber yard in Elkhorn for an occasional car, and there is also a lumber supply company about halfway between Delavan and Elkhorn. You are correct about the grain elevators in Darien. They probably account for the biggest number of loads. From time to time an ARM reefer will be seen at the frozen food operations. I think those may be inbound bulk frozen veggies for packaging. I really doubt that the outbound frozen goes other than truck.

Service on the branch-at least through Delavan-happens around midnight, except Sunday when run will be in the afternoon. The southbound train for Clearing is through the area in the early evening. I don’t know when the northbound counterpart gets through, and I am not certain if that train stops at Bardwell and does the switching on the branch.

One of my tax clients is a WSOR carman in Janesville. Won’t see him until next March, but I’ll ask him about the service. (Be Patient)

Thanks for the info. Do they still use the Inter-tractor spur to spot cars for the Millard(?) Co-op? I know they used to do that on a regular basis, but again, I’m not in the area anymore.
