I need one of these for my N scale layout, which I’m building. Can someone recomend a good one?
I just use the fine nozzle on the family vacuum cleaner. The little “toy” vacuums don’t have a lot of power. I want to get all the loose ballast and ground foam up. If it stay on with a real vacuum cleaner, then I’ve done a good glue job.
You can try a computer store, they sell small vacums for cleaning keyboards. I don’t imagine you want anything too strong so that should do the trick
I’ve got one called a Shark. It’s about 14" long hand held with a 3’ hose. It has a shoulder strap and a fine brush attachment. Good suction but not too much. Won’t suck up glued down scenery or details. It’s got a reusable cup filter so you can reuse your ballast when ballasting.
I harassed Mrs. WHD until she gave me one of her old knee-high nylons. I put it over the business end of my shop-vac hose. I waited about a day for the glue to set before I used it. Works great.
I bought one from harbor Freight in Fort wayne Indiana, it attaches to a regular shop vac, but itself is very small. Also was very inexpensive and has several attachments.
I think Harbor Freight has a website.
