i got one for ya guys. would you trust it if Dollar Tree said they made a affordable HO scale Engine(didnt announce what type) and they were selling it for 3 dollars in the toy isle
on this one for me NO i couldnt trust dollar tree to have a reliable engine i would worry when i got to dollar tree it would be a friction pull back or something that had the right wheel spacing to fit on ho track
Since the local Dollar Tree is within biking distance, I would just bike down there and take a closer look. Then and only then would I be willing to risk three whole dollars.
Dollar Tree making HO Diesels would be interesting 
, even then they would be made of cheap materials or just dead dummy units, I would expect Dollar General or Family Dollar to sell something like this 
its wierd i found there is some knock off set that looks like a push by hand type deal but i was able to take its trucks off and drop it onto some ho size trucks and run it on my track i found a tanker car like that too all metal shell no wheels came with it but it loose fit my trucks and ran fine on my ho layout

honestly i think these knock offs were from something like a hallmark store at one point i get them from bin finds at the flea market
