Has anyone heard of the Electrak Clean 2 car made by miniatronics? I was looking around at internettrains.com for track cleaning stuff and forund this. It uses electrostatic impulses to clean track. If anyone has it, how good does it work? Here’s a link: http://internettrains.com/mihoscelclll.html

From what I have read on the forums it does not work with DCC!

Bob,
[2c] I saw ad (think it was an add) claiming it does work with DCC. Anyone considering a purchase should check it out- better safe then sorry. [:(]
Kyle,
Had old Miniatronics model on DC and it did an excellent job. Again, somewhere I saw article which advocated Miniatronics plus track cleaning car. After pass by both, track and drive wheels should be clean.

Kyle,
Update: Manufacturer claims unit is compatable with DCC. Go to their website(Miniatronics.com), click on New Arrivals and scroll down the page. A review of unit is posted. You could also use their advanced search, type in Electrak and you get an online order form-at that point click again on Electrak Clean II and you get manufacturers description citing DCC compatability.
Per my previous post (with older unit on DC), you can see the cleaning/improvement on locos with dirty driving wheels. The electrical contact gets better and better. It’s a neat unit.

I have one, it is completely DCC compatible. Works OK. - Nevin
Well then I stand corrected, but really do not need it as I use metal polish and have not had to reclean my tracks since I first used it back in July of 2003.

You can sure purchase an awful lot of metal polish for the price of the Electrak car.
Tony’s Train Exchange did a review of it, which may still be on his web site buried in his “Tony’s TIps” section.
After reading his review and seeing the price of it, I decided to stick with the CMX Clean Machine filled with lacquer thinner and/or Nevr-Dull Magic Wadding Polish.
That is GOOD since we just got one! PHEW! thought i blew another one!
