Fox News is reporting that The Virginia Railway Express commuter train carrying about 400 passengers derailed during morning rush hour today north of Quantico on its way to Washington. The engine and last three cars of the train jumped the track. Four people were taken to hospitals for treatment. The cause is unknown. The derailment disrupted both freight and passenger service. The line is owned by CSX. Meanwhile yesterday in the Detroit area, a vehicle was struck by a freight train in Clinton Township northeast of Detroit (don’t know if its NS or CN there). The single occupant of the vehicle was killed. It’s believed by police to be a suicide. The engineer reported the car initially stopped at the grade crossing (gates were down, lights and bell working), then proceeded to go around the gates and sit on the track.
