I’ve just realized that a couple of formerly regular posters don’t seem to be around lately. One was BNSF Foamer and I’m having a brain fart over the other’s name. They were both older so I hope nothing happened to them…
Unfortunately when someone drops off (Unless they say goodbye) we have no way of knowing what’s happened.
The exception was when Johnny Degges (Deggesty) passed away. We knew his name so when he stopped posting or answering PM’s Wanswheel was able to find out what happened.
Talk about finding something you really don’t want to. [:'(]
People die, people get banned, they might lose their login info and decide not to return, or they just get busy or bored and stop visiting the site.
I had been wondering what happened to Paul of Covington. But I decided to look in Chatterbox (I rarely go there), and there he was. So, good news.
I’m still kickin’.
One poster I miss is NDG. I really enjoyed his posts, but I noticed that he seems to have removed many of his later posts. Does anyone know what happened?
Might have gotten some behind the scenes flack. Might have gotten upset with someone.
One former regular poster PM’d anyone who had even quoted him asking for the posts to be removed. Created a lot of chaos for a while as old threads suddenly came to the top for no apparent reason. He was in line for a job and apparently felt the posts might have a negative effect, even though there was nothing negative about them to all appearances.
On a forum read primarily by men, this thread has a sobering title.
It seems to me that the ‘coffee club’ threads that are renewed each month-end are good resources, or watchdogs, for those who slip away. However, they can only notice those who post something like once or twice each week at a minimum. Those of us, like me, who don’t go into the coffee clatches at all, and who post very seldom, are likely to be missed after several weeks or months have passed. So, finally someone asks the question, and before you know it the thread has gone two pages with all sorts of whatever-happened-to inquiries. This happens at least twice a year over in the model forums. We lost our Digital Command Control guru in March due to COVID.
I think I know what you mean. I felt a slight shudder when I first read it.
This forum, unlike some others I participate in, does not have a ‘Members’ button that identify all registered members - in many cases showing the member’s joining date, post count and date of last post.
Had lunch with him two weeks ago. He’s a frequent commenter on Newswire but I don’t see him around here much.
Thanks. I went back through some old blogs and got the name of the other one–JPS1.
Good to know! Keep at it.
I hope Ida didn’t hit you too hard.
I haven’t seen anything posted by Paul D North since last year.
What I can find on Google

Paul North served as Judge of Election in Lehigh County’s South
He seems to be keeping busy. I found some work he did in his line of work late last year.
Honestly, I only ever really take part here when I have time to kill. I guess if someone is extremley interested in the economic theories of intermodal/railroads/trucks/operating plans/political posturing/etc. then there’s a lot of fun to be had here. If not, well…
Watching paint dry, manufacturer of a cable, etc.
It is my impression that the activity level on the Trains forums has been in decline for several years.
For that, I watch golf tournaments. [|)]
Think I’ve seen Modelcar/Quentin around here lately and VSmith over on the Garden Raiways site. Two old friends of mine.

PDN wears multiple hats, busy guy. From the wayback machine, wonder how Kozzie the Aussie is doing down under? or Gabe or Bergie…Periodically get a call from LC, who like PDN, has plenty keeping him busy.
I’m sure Mookie, EdB and JohnnieD are all looking down at us and wondering …
