I am trying to complete my dad’s old Bachmann train set. I have the Warbonnet FT diesel, a gondola, a hopper car, and a box of about 75 other cars. I am not sure which of the others go with the set. I have seen pictures of many other Bachamann sets, but none with the sea-foam green gondola like mine. Any help would be appreciated.

As long as the GUAGE is the same (and couplers), everything should go together. Trying to find a particular car may put you into a 'Collector’s catagory (expensive).

I agree with Don Gibson. Just have fun with what you have - unless you’re willing to spend the $… You can always add to your collection by buying other sets from places like Hobby Lobby, Toys R Us and alike rather cheaply.

This page - http://tycotrain.tripod.com/bachmanntrainscollectorsresource/ - may help. Typcially a set has an engine, 2-5 freight cars, and a caboose plus a circle of track and a power pack. The caboose and engine are the same road name, but the cars may be a mixture, but are usually all different types with one being a boxcar. Frequently, the freight cars change every time the manufacturer runs off a batch of the sets (sometimes even within a batch).
You might be able to find some old Bachmann catalogs at train shows. Also check old Sears, Wards, etc. catalogs.
I would add a Sante Fe caboose and just pick some other cars to fill out the set box.

Bachmann may well have changed cars in the set over the production run - sometimes manufacturers just use whatever they have to hand to fill the spaces (frequently these are the cars that didn’t sell last year). Best advice would be to surf ebay and Paul’s suggested URL and keep an eye open for the same set. Good luck!
that would be my best guess…try to make it to as many train shows as possible and you may find what you are looking for…I remember seeing an old lionel train car at one that had a missile launcher on a flat car that i had as a kid…i’ve found a lot of old stuff like that at a train show…chuck
