BLI have no RTC (Regulated Throttle Control) and Speed Control features in there sound locomotive but Atlas have in there’s.
Why? QSI make the electronics in booth.
It does make a big difference in handling.
When will it be back?
I think that’s on the docket about 3 weeks after Scott Petersen’s appeal. (The BLI issue is lawsuit related according to their web page. They say depending on the settlement/resolution, they will make the retrofit available.)
Will the new BLI F7 have RTC?
It is my understanding that NONE of the new models are being produced with RTC until the legal issues with MTH are resolved, but like Virginian said I have also heard rumors that the retrofit will be availble if and when the lawsuit is over.
Hi, I’m new to this forum, and I’m looking for information on BLI’s regulated throttle control. I just received my first BLI engine (an m1a) and am very disappointed at the high minimum speed. Of course there should be a workaround to at least make the engine accelerate slowly and smoothly? But how?

I have a BLI cab forward that don’t have RTC and it needed a lot of oil and some running to be a “acceptable” slow speed runner as it is now.
Rumors I’ve heard is that the new BLI K4 have a slow speed “load effect”. Is that RTC, Regulated Throttle Control, that’s back again?
I think the RTC is a “must” in diesels. Atlas trainmaster is so good to run with the RTC on. I buy no BLI diesel before the have put RTC back, but with steam I think it’s ok without.
My A class really needs that RTC. Its hard for it to move under 10 mph. 11-20 mph is unsmooth and inconsistant in speed, especially up a grade. Hopefully she will get better after some run time.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m now thinking of replacing the BLI decoder with a normal dcc one. If the choice is between slow speed and sound, I would surely choose slow speed. The BLI sound isnt that great anyway. Does anyone have experience with this?
What’s going on with the anti-BLI crowd lately? One says the levelof detailing on the locomotives stinks (compared to what, a $1000 brass model of the same locomotive?), and now we have the control sysem is junk. The default high minimum start speed is there IS adjustable. Are you using DCC? Download the FULL manual that explains ALL the settings from BLI’s web site. And give it a chance, you just got the thing. Let it break in a little bit. Check the lubrication, all the same stuff you’d do to any other locomotive. Fresh out of the box, just about any brand of locomotive is going to be a little stiff, moreso for a steam locomotive because of all the rods and valve gear. Also check out the QSIndustries group on Yahoo, lots of other users of QSI sound systems, and Pat Quinn himself participates.
