Sounds like the makings for a great feature artcicle in Trains!
The MSE is one of the least noticed short lines in the US. They have lost some important shippers over the last decade or so, but they continue to ‘hang in there’ despite the obstacles thrown in their way. Way to go MSE, I fully expect to hear about birthday no 100 in about ten years.
the rr is mentioned in beebe & clegg’s ‘mixed train daily’ with contempt as the fully-dieselized south end of the original Miss. & Ala., the north end of which remained the last wood-burning common carrier in the USA.
And they survived Katrina, too? God bless them!
Naaa. Article won’t happen as TRAINS never covers anything from the South.

I am from Pascagoula and have been chasing MSE trains all my life.
Somewhere I saw a photo of what I believe to be an NW-5 with MSE paint - does anyone know anything about this?
Has Trains ever done an article on MSE?
