I LOVE the picture of the Katy train leaving Dallas; it says it is on the outskirts, but based on the grain elevator, I believe it has just left DUS and has passed through the yard where the American Airlines Center is located today. The Katy line traveled up a ramp of fill to leave this area, and remnants of that Earthen ramp exist today, albeit with a beer billboard at the top compete with a waterfall… I could be wrong, but I really believe that is where this train is located in this shot. Either way, great to get a glimpse of the past around here in Dallas! Thanks for posting!

I rode the Texas Special round trip from St.Louis to San Antonio and back in 1957 when I went to Lackland AFB for basic training. Sure brings back memories.
