Missouri senator introduces bipartisan bill to extend PTC deadline
This sounds like an uncommon injection of sanity into the normal craziness that is our national political process. Lets hope that it is swiftly passed and implemented!
Probably a good idea
PTC seems like a good idea on the surface, but it really would be appropriate for politicians to propose practical implementation timelines and conditions. But that would take politicians to be something they’re not.
The Amtrak River Runners between K.C. and St. Louis may be canceled as a result of the PTC requirements. This is just before the new eqipment arrives.
I am pretty sure the KC-STL line would be require to have PTC based on the volume of freight on it, whether or not there are passenger trains.
From the story:
“ease the regulatory burden and costs…for railroads.”
“without burdening our rail industry.”
“…deadlines could result in higher costs.”
Not many words, but there are none expressing concern for continuing the hazards to the passengers and public…people…which would happen with a legislative delay…
