From the WSJ:
"WASHINGTON – The coal industry faces a bleak future unless ways are developed on a commercial scale to capture and store carbon dioxide in the campaign against global warming, according to a study released Wednesday.
“The report by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology says coal, which accounts for half of the country’s electricity production, will remain the fuel of choice to produce electricity in the U.S. because it is relatively cheap and abundant.”

The report states that Nitrous Oxide and Sulfuric Acid emission are not yet under control, but then they want to tax people to store Carbon Dioxide. Only so much can be accomplished. Pumping the Carbon Dioxide in deep wells or in the deep oceans would only make sense if it were used to push up more crude oil.
Andrew
Has anyone considered the possible negative future consequences of pumping a million tons of CO2 underground every year?
The future is indeed bleak for any society that bases it’s public policy mandates on fraudulent science, such as this hit piece from MIT’s eco sciences division. Again, I am somewhat confident that when push comes to shove, the collective will of the better educated Western peoples will counter this not-so-subtle push into one-world socialism. I am less confident that the fraudmongers themselves will be held accountable for their misuse of taxpayer funds.
It is interesting that one of the leading skeptics of anthropogenic GW theories is also from MIT.
Maybe all our artesian wells will bring forth Perrier forevermore?
In 1000 years people will be up to their elbows in diamonds?
We’re there now. The supply is kept artificially low, sort of an analog to this proposal.
Who would have thought that Futuremodal has a sense of humor? [:)]

[(-D] Hey Dave- I now feel vindicated for having razzed you about 100 times about hiding your sense of humor.[:P]
