mixing brands

I have o 3-rail gargraves. There doesn’t seem to be any curved switches available. Can I adapt other brands to fit?

Ross switches will mate to Gargraves with no trouble. In fact, the rail stock which Ross uses comes from Gargraves

Ross switches are pricey, but many people consider them to be the absolute best available in O gauge.

Alternatively, Atlas switches should adapt with little trouble. The rail is the same height, and I believe that Atlas makes an adapter for Gargraves track.

Thanks that is just the information I was looking for!

I have GarGraves track and switches and the adapter pins for Atlas track may have to be bought from Atlas. Last time I checked the GarGraves website they didn’t carry the adapter pins for Atlas track.

Not 100% sure how well Atlas mates up to GarGraves track but I have had some problems mating Atlas to Lionel tubular(031 O gauge)track. You may need a dremel tool to trim some of the metal down a little to avoid derailments or a pair of pliers to bend the track just a little bit to match properly.

While on the subject of Ross & GarGraves switches, Ross Custom switches carries the DZ Industry switch motors; DZ-1000 & DZ 2500. You can buy them directly from Ross, and not DZ Industry.

If you run post war lionel (w/Magnatraction), note that Atlas track is non-magnetic nickel-silver.

You can use Lionel switches with Gargraves track. The 027 switches are the same height. If(and you should use cork roadbed under the Gargraves track) you won’t need it for O gauge switches.

I am very happy with my Ross switches that I use with my Gargraves track (sectional Gargraves for the curves and Gargraves flex for the straights)! Ross and Gargraves even use the same track pins!

Look into Ross, their switches are well made and nobody has a larger selection of switch choices! [;)]
