Model Making Tools

I am new to the hobby of model railroading and cannot for the life of me find a good resource for buying tooling used in Modeling. This is more of a request than a topic of discussion. Please post any known supply houses where smaller drills and taps may be purchased either on the web or by mail.

See “www.micromark.com” They’ve got a great selection of tools.

I’m still searching this info myself. I model ho scale and have found micro-tools to be incomplete. Also check with sears.com for wire gauge drill bit sets, awesome ! And don’t forget the ole mighty dremel tool, I bought a kit.
I’m still debating over the dremel drill press vise or a small drill press ? see ya, turnout6

I have had good luck with Micromark especially for unusual or specialized tools. Depending on where you live, a good hardware store will have at least the basics such as Exacto knives, swiss files, hobby pliers etc. People in other hobbies such as car modelers, model airplane guys, and doll house hobbyists use many of the same tools, so even a hobby or craft shop that doesn’t carry trains should have most of the tools you would need. Good luck. Ron H.

Go to www.micromark.com for model railroading tools and jewlers tools. Also www.walthers.com for a limited selection.

This may sound funny…but I have found that my family dentist often throws away his dental tools on a regular basis and many of them make GREAT modeling tools
