I’m lucky enough to have my 8 year old daughter interested in trains…for now while I’m still the “cool Dad.” Doing so sort of forces me to get creative and do things that pique her interest. Lately I’ve gone beyond just the locomotive sounds and added sounds of banjo’s by the fire, herding sheep, Eulogy, and more to come. I kept telling her we’d do thunder and lightning. It took a while to find just the right stuff but we did it and it’s very cool. Please keep in mind that the video is off a cheap camera and doesn’t do it justice. This system includes a Sony home theater in a box with a subwoofer, three of WalMart’s cheapest dvd players, Radio Shack four channel mixer, and a Firefly lightning simulator. Please share your animation too. thanks!
Very nice indeed!
I liked the sync of the thunder and lightning. [tup]
Good job, very classy. A good realistic dipiction and looks like you’re motivated by more than your 8 yr old daughters interest. Almost worthwhile developing a little story for maybe a five minute production with some narration etc. Sounds like you’ve got enough equipment. Maybe a little like Thomas, only more realistic. Say ,a step up where the story wowuld be human interest instead of anthropomorphasized (whew!!) trains. BILL
Nice.
I guess I know who not to play scrabble with…
It’s a great effect…however, you’d normally see the lightning first and hear the thunder a few seconds later. [:)]
But in scale time, the difference would be imperceptible.
