whats up with my model railroad magazine
I cant beleve it
I have had a thermal fax paper thicker than this
the pages are so thin I feel like its going to rip in my hand
wow that must save a lot sheeeees…
I dont think I will be renewing this type of flimsy paper back
I have well over 100 mr mags and just got my new issue
Ah, yes the April magazine, concerned about the month of April! Only 30 days in the month, Easter appears about midway. Sun is getting warmer, spring is coming. A great magazine.
I used to collect a particular drumming magazine. Now I only buy issues with my good old “hero’s” on the cover, and often scan in an article if it’s something I really want to keep.
When I scan them now, the bright light of the scanner causes the page behind the page I’m scanning to show up also. This is happening with MR now too!
I can’t blame them - for just reading it as a magazine, I don’t mind. If I was intending on keeping the mags around for a long time (I don’t anymore), I’d be bummed.
My guess is as technology improves, they are able to use thinner and thinner paper, saving on materials, etc.
I just picked up the April copy at Wal-Mart today. Seems just like all the rest I’ve ever purchased. I wonder if they’ve increased their prices for advertising. I’ve noticed that Toy Train Heaven, for instance has cut down their pages significantly over the past year. RMC still carries several pages of Toy Train Heaven just like always.
Depending on where you live it probably has more to do with the printer than the editor. Model railroader doesn’t print it’s magazine, companies like Quad Graphics does.
