Hello everyone I was wondering if u guys can help I live in philadelphia and have been trying to find a model railroad club and to my luck have found none if anyone know where any are that are close please let me know thanks
there is the gatsme lines just off 309. i tthink there is one on the grounds of bryn mawr hospital. out in downingtown area is one of the largest railroads in the country. keep an eye out for the open house list. youwill be able to lots of clubs that way.
The Royersford Modular Club publishes a list of open houses for the fall season. They call the list “the Green Sheets”. Here is the link to that club’s wbsite: http://www.royersfordmodular.org/. You’ll see a link there under where it says “thanks” to last year’s listing. Several clubs are listed.
Note that the GATSME club, while still a viable organization, lost its space and had to dismantle their railroad. They are looking for a new place, and the last word I heard was that they were very close to finding one.
What scale do you model? I know of a club that is nearby in New Jersey.
I’m model HO scale and plan on doing a layout
Okay. Unfortunately, the club I belong to is an N-scale club. I am sure there are some HO scale clubs in PA, as well as some in NJ. Good luck on your search.
In South Jersey, there are two nice clubs that I have visited: Gateway Model Railroad Club in Brooklawn, NJ www.gatewaymodelrr.org, and Patcong Valley Model RR in Richland, NJ, www.patcongvalley.com.
Brooklawn is a few minutes over the Walt Whitman Bridge, Richland is maby 45 minutes from Philly.
Both clubs have open houses during the year.
Here is a link to the NMRA’s list of clubs in the area:

I’m native to southeast PA (Reading specifically) and used to visit many clubs in the Philly area before relocating to Nevada. I know GATSME in Ft Washington…sadly, lost their home. Another club that comes to mind is in Elkins Park, the Chelten Hills club on Old York Road. Their layout is impressive and housed in an old Reading station. If you’re willing to drive a little…check out the RSME. They’re are a little northeast of Reading. They have a 40x80 ft O scale and 15" gauge outside. There is another is Phoenixville, but I’ve not been to that one.
