Model Railroad name

I am tring to come up with a name for My fictonal Railroad and since I am a newbie I need help please tell me which you like better of the following names

  1. WKP&G (First initials of me wife and baby)

  2. Whitetail line

  3. Portage Division

  4. Sill Valley

let me know what you guys and gals think.
which sound more like a Railroad name?

thanks this may be a little off topic but it cant be too far it is about model trains. Right?

Why not add Cuyahoga Central RR or Cuyahoga Falls Shortline RR to your list? I see from your ID tag your location town name has a good ring to it and sound like a good shortline or regional RR .

polizi,
I agree with vsmith and he has some very good name suggestions. The name Cuyahoga Falls really stirs the imagination. To me, I see a rail system snuggled in and around the hills and rock bluffs with a river or white water creek running along side and there is a… Oops! Sorry my mind was wondering .[:D]

Can’t do that with my home town…Tuscaloosa…Nope, no way! [(-D]

  1. this might change if/when family grows - like merged rr’s: I used this same idea, but my family size is stable (I also have a railcar per family member, in their favourite colour, with family names and birthdate numbers eg. 10.15.2004 - replacing the roadnames, numbers)
  2. MY Favourite of the 4 considerations - “MFR Whitetail line” would be another thought (My Fictional Railroad Whitetail Line)
  3. good description for your MRR
  4. might I suggest Silly Valley (?) - allowing for a bit of humour and “modeller’s licence” to what you do

there’s my feedback, it’s late…

The C&NW had a line through Nebraska and into Wyoming called the “Cowboy Line.”

Why not the Sill Valley sub of the Portage Division of the WKP&G, known as the “Whitetail Line?”

Then all you have to do is find town names starting with W, K, P and G.

Being partial to the C&O

Why not call it:

Whitetail, Kanawha, Portage & Greenbrier

Just a thought.

How about Pittsburgh & Cuyahoga Falls -Portage Division?
As far as WKP&G. Let’s see.
West Keysport,Portage & Galston.The Whitetail line .

How about the Cuyahoga Falls & Sill Valley RR…the CF&SV RR…sounds good to me!..Chuck[:D]

Myself, I like WPK&G just as it is. Then when people ask you what the initials mean, you can always make up something on the spot. I grew up in Nevada City, CA, terminus of the NCNGRR. All the ‘outsiders’ called it the “Nevada County Narrow Gauge” but we locals always referred to it as the “Never Come Never Go.”

ok you guys were supposed to be a help not add more though to it, Now I have some thinking to do…

ok here is one

WKP&G, Cuyahoga subdivsion of the Whitetail Railroad

You have several different things here:

WKP&G : Railroad initials. Can you come up with the actual name (several have been suggested) that fits your favorite area?

Whitetail Line: Slogan. This is independent of the actual railroad name. Any actual railroad name could be paired with this slogan. Western Kentucky, Paducah and Gulf, the “Whitetail Line”.

Port Division : Operating unit of the railroad. It would be a portion of a rairlroad with any name as in the Port Division of the Western Kentucky, Paducah and Gulf, the “Whitetail Line”.

Sill Valley : could be the railroad name or slogan. For a name it would be the Sill Valley Railroad (or Railway), the “Whitetail Line” or for a slogan it might be the Port Division of the Western Kentucky, Paducah and Gulf, the “Sill Valley Line”.

How about Whitetail Central

You have dived into an area that one can devote a lot of thought too! I have had several ‘lines’ through the years:

o - Hastings & Dakota
o - Galena Madison & Northern
o - Lake Superior & Duluth

The GM&N was a ‘subsidiary’ of the Milwaukee Road - I have lettered 40’ rib-side boxcars with standard Milwakee Road lettering and used GMN reporting marks on them - I use them for ‘trading’ …
I have a few Mineral Point & Northern cars and plan to do some more rib-side box cars with the MP&N reporting marks - sort of a tribute to the late Paul Larson from Model Railroader. The nice thing is that the cars ‘fit’ in with the rest of my models and do not look ‘out of place’.

WHITETAIL LINE gets my vote!
