to finally get the courage to try my first grade and bridge and my first back drop on my first ever layout…to not complain about how small my layout is and try to enjoy it, which i finally am!!

Not wishing to sound cynical, but

GOOD LUCK!!!

I hope you have better luck than me I cleaned and organized my train room more times than not. If others would just stop dumping there junk in my space…

As for my new years resloution well here it is

Stop Dreaming [zzz]and Start Doing[banghead]

I hope to have another 40 to 60 feet laid by June which will include one new bridge and several industries and coal wharf. and a Mountain range with more 7% grades.

Organize more… worry less.
Display more… nitpick less.
Repair more… get angry less.
Enjoy the journey more… fret about the destination less.
Increase my circle of modelling friends.
Purchase higher-end items.
Get the accessories and signals and scenery closer to completion.
Discover all I can about Frank Ellison and the Delta Lines.

I have only one resolution: Finish one project before I begin the next. (The same resolution I have every year  )

Have a Good New Year all of you.

Randy

IGNORE … the unbuilt freight car kits on the shelf. I have enough cars!
IGNORE … the videos and DVDs and books and slides and magazines and timetables and maps and other distractions that are so much easier to get to of an evening than actual layout building.
DECIDE … whether the layout is going to be DCC or Signal Research DC. Enough is enough!
BUILD … the essential bridge that represents the current gap in the roadbed. The bridge itself is done. The handrails are done. The stone supports are not.
BUY … the color coded wire and toggle switches I will need.
Dave Nelson

Fini***he first structure and build the other two that have been sitting, bagged, for a year now! That, and dung out my home office so I can actually find things when I want them…

  1. Get my new layout completed to the point where I can start running trains again.
  2. Begin clearing the backlog on unfinished kits.
  3. Clean up the layout area so I can show off my layout to others.

If I keep these resolutions then maybe I will see a train on this heap of wood I constructed last year**!!** [:D]

I resolve to

  1. fini***rack work
  2. run trains
  3. start scenery

I resolve to stop buying so many locomotives and cars – I’m running out of room to store them all. And my bank account can’t support such extravagance, either…

resolution:

fini***he street work on my layout (covering the tracks with street surface) and put up trolley poles and wiring.

buy no more locomotives–but build at least one electric freight motor, either kitbashed or scratchbuilt, from the parts I have on hand.

build at least one more section of layout so I can expand and make use of all this darn rolling stock I have purchased over the past year.

Not buy anything UP!

I resolve to stop buying more locos and rolling stock until I finish working on what I have.

I resolve to take all the locos and rolling stock I do have and get them all up to layout operating standards (weathering, metal wheels, smooth mechanics and lubrication, gauged couplers (this should take about 5 years, lol)) or sell those I won’t ever use on EBay [8]

I also resolve to start painting all the locos that I have purchased specifically to repaint into other roads.

That ought to be more than enough resolutions [:)]

Warren

I resolve to get enough track complete to once again run the Trains. Then to keep going until I run out of space LOL.

Happy New year!!

John

  1. build the bench work
  2. purchase more locomotives and rolling stock, depending on the money i have
  3. start the layout, when completed with #1
  4. buy more buildings
  5. read more books and learn more about model railroading
  6. see #2
  7. buy shelves and storage for the boxes for the rolling stock

thats all i can think of now. hopefully i can get the list of supplies i need for the bench work and have my dad go to the lumber yard and get that.

To finally sort out the joint between the two boards of my layout - just need to sort out the bolts holding them together, and get some copper-clad ties to use in the track joints. Then I can fini***he scenery!

to fine tune my rolling stock, I hate it when a train comes apart in the middle
