I enjoy both Great Model Railroads and Model Railroad Planing as much as I enjoy Model Railroader Magazine! I look forward with anticipation to the release of both of these annual magazines!
Last years Model Railroad Planing 2011 is a great read, with many smaller “starter” type layouts, as well as larger “basement/garage/spare room filling layouts”. The one that I enjoyed the most was “Mountain main lines with lift-out scenery” by Rich Loveman. I find Mr. Loveman’s concept to be “Walking to the beat of a different drummer” and maybe somewhat opposed to conventional thought on lay-out design. His scenery is wonderful and I find his ideas to be very interesting!
Isn’t diversified ideas the spark that makes this hobby so intriguing?
Model Railroad Planning 2011 was last year’s magazine, not this year’s, as it happens. Still a fine issue. “This year’s” issue is Model Railroad Planning 2012, which came out in January or so and is also excellent.
Just mentioning it so folks aren’t confused and go looking in this year’s magazine for Mr. Loveman’s article, which appeared in 2011.
I just bought the issue I talked about above. I thought it was the latest issue! Thanks for the correction cuyama. I was under the impression that it came out at the end of the year and therefore would be called 2011.
I corrected my miscue in the first post; so, there shouldn’t be any confusion.
