After thumbing through the model railroad planning guide 2007, I came across a layout which really caught my interest. The railroad is the Idaho-Montana Railway & Navigation Company and it measured 14’6" X 18’6" which just about the size of my new train room (15’4" X 20’). The magazine didn’t include many photos of the layout nor contact info such as a website etc. Does anyone know how I might be able to find more info/photos of this layout?
Having just read the article and looked at the pictures included, I get the impression that the subject layout is very much a work in progress. The article and layout plan are loaded with good ideas, but a lot of it is probably either plywood prairie or ‘someday.’
My own 16 x 19 garage layout is rather the same. I have a very clear vision of what will be, but present-day reality is several disconneted steel frames that will eventually coalesce into benchwork for a walk-in layout, and a dozen or so meters of operable track that will eventually be hidden staging. Most people would take a look at the contents of the garage and assume that most of what they see is awaiting a quick trip to a dumpster.
Crossing the bridge from fantasy to reality is a fascinating, if slow, journey.

Try to contact Tony Koester via MRP magazine. I know that, were I to have an article about me published, I would not want possibly thousands of people contacting me to ask about my layout, but I would have given a lot of information to the writer and editor which later would be dropped out of the final article. The magazine will still have this and could put it out to the interested public.
