Model Railroad show in central IL this weekend

The Normal Public Library in Normal, IL will be hosting a “Model Railroad Train Show” this weekend (I just found out about it in the newspaper today). I don’t know exactly what all is going on there, but I’m guessing it will be more like a time of sharing the hobby than a sale like the usual “train show”. It’s only about 5 minutes from my house, and it’s free, so I’m going to show up there for at least one day.

Just thought I’d put this up in case anyone in the area is interested!

From what I could find on line, it looks like it’s the third annual show. There will at least be a local N-track layout and an O scale layout. I wish there was a little more info on-line about it. I’d like to know if it’s worth the hour and a half drive it would take for me to get there.

Well, I went to the show today. It was made up of a 2-rail O scale layout and a couple of sectional N scale layouts. There was also a repeating video, a few books and magazines, and a refreshment area.

So it’s mostly just a free event to introduce model trains to people. The kids seemed to like it a lot. But it isn’t something I would say to drive an hour or more to go and see.
