I live in Northeast Texas and am having a hard time finding out when and where any model Train shows are being held. My question is, is there a place i can go on the internet to find them?. The closest cities are Texarkana, Shreveport La, Mt. Pleasant TX. The cities are within an hour from my home. ant help would be great. By the way, I model HO. Thanks in advance.
I usually just go to Google and enter “train show massachusetts”, but of course you would want to replace that with the states you’re interested in. (You are, of course, welcome to come on up to our train shows here in the Bay State. The big Springfield show in January is considered one of the best anywhere.) The MR site mentioned above usually shows up on the first page, but there are numerous other offerings that didn’t make it to the MR site.
One word of caution - check the dates, including the year. I typically find references to shows that happened several years ago. I suspect some of those Webmasters don’t clean out their refrigerators very often, either.
Probably the best way is just to Goggle something like “model railroad shows” or “model railroad clubs”. You can also go to the NMRA website and look for local clubs and events. I live in the Kansas City area but the shows are still few and far between although the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour show will be here in the middle of March.
If you join the NMRA I bet your local Division or Region keeps members well informed of train shows and events in their magazines and newsletters and websites.

It probably doesn’t do you any good, but the Hostler’s Model Railroad Club is having their annual model train show Today, tomorrow and Sunday at Ogden’s Union Station here in Utah.
I’ll be there[swg]
Other than that, all of the model rail magazines (well, the ones that are left anyhow) have a section for coming events - usually listed by state. And as mentioned your local division of the NMRA usually has a newsletter that lists train shows and the like.

Phoebe Vet, glad you put up that web site. I didn’t know there was an Open House at the old RF&P station located in Quantico, VA. That’s just 30 minutes from me. I’ll have to check that out tomorrow.
Thanks,
Bill
Bill:
I check that site regularly.

Homer is great person, he has a list of all the local shows in the area. He also has one of the best LHS I’ve seen.
