I’m visiting New York City from the U.K. and wonder if anyone knows if there’s a model railroad show on either June 15th or June 21st anywhere within say an hour’s train ride of central Manhattan?
Also, anyone have any suggestions for good hobby shops about the same distance. I know Trainworld, Red Caboose and Gotham Trains in NYC, but none out of town?
Thanks, Ian
You can go to Danbury by train. The RR museum is right around the corner. It might be longer than an hour trip from Grand Central Terminal.
Northlandz is an hours drive away. No train running that way that I know of.
There have got to be more, but I moved out of NYC back in 1979.(my block is still waiting for the snowplow, thank you Mr Koch)
The Model Railroad Club in Union, NJ will not be having a show, but they are open to the public on Saturday. It cost me a few bucks to get in, but the back issue magazine giveaway made up for it.
Two hobby shops worth visiting are Hudson Shores in Blauvelt, NY, and the Model Railroad shop in Dunellen, NJ. Both have websites.
