I released the gold version of a program I wrote to inventory model railroad equipment including cars, locomotives, structures, electonics and all the books from your library . Easy Model Railroad Inventory is freeware and can be downloaded to your computer. The program has been in development for a year and a half and in beta for a year. Some members of the Tidwater Divsion of the NMRA plus others participated in the beta testing group. I will not repeat the contents of the web site here. Those who are interested can click here and take a look for yourself.
The program title is a little inacurate. Operation functions are also included: printing car cards, waybills, and switch lists,
You get out of it what you put in. To add a car there is a minimum of 4 data fields. But there are an additional 35 or 40 fields to meet the requirements of insurance, or collectors, or operations or information you find interesting and important.
Press F1 for context sensitive help. There is a PDF manual that is 160 pages included in the installation.
Very nice indeed. I’ve been playing around with it, and it’s very well done, and easy to use. I’m surprised you didn’t have Ethanol in there already as an Industry, but it was really easy to add it.
Is the Operations piece similar to the JMRI Operations?
Just took a quick look, looks very nice. I’ll have to play with it more in depth and see how it works when loaded with some actual data. And figure out how to import from my other program I’ve been using.
Randy,
There are a number of pages addressing importing. By sure to checkout what file formats Easy Model Railroad Inventory supports. I like personally like Dbase and ASCII delimited the best.
Click here to read online help or page 51 thru 62 of the user manual. If you download the program press F1 to access the help file, then search for “Import”.
I’ve downloaded this program and started entering data. Really great Bob, thanks for doing this. The instructions are quite extensive, I’ll have to devote some time to read through them. Looks like you’ve thought of everything.
As I try to load, by either method, the software will not allow me to check the ‘I accept this agreement.’ Therefore, I am unable to load. Any suggestions?
Downloaded it yesterday. Looks to be very extensive. Still playing with it but looks like it will be a good program. I had and still use another software download but it is no longer supported and it has some issues with adding prices, kicks you to another page or kicks you off entirely.
