Model Railroader Beer terminal not the only one...................

Hi from belgium,

It’s nice to see a good layout project again in MR.

If you are interested in terminal of all kind and you look after some information about them, following it’s a web address where it’s hoster had made a remarkable work about all the NEW YORK terminals.

You can find a lot of photos and description about them and even a model of the BRONX Terminal in HO with all it’s intricate track around the circle wharehouse.

The address is: www.handlaidtrack.com choice Bronx Terminal at the bottom of the home page/choice links and click on the terminals address, it’s amazing beleive me.

Good visit.

Marc

A more direct link would probably be http://www.bronx-terminal.com
BTW, he has an RSS feed for it, if you would like to follow the progress on it from your favorite reader. I’m personally impatiently waiting to see it come more to life.

I believe this fascinating terminal was written up in Model Railroad Planning a few years ago, where if memory serves the point was made that a prototypically accurate rail curvature would be in the neighborhood of 12 inch radius track in HO, a rare instance where prototype curves are tighter than model curves, and that cars and locomotives might have to be modified to handle such tight curves.

The non-crossing crossing, so to speak, was not mentioned but seems almost unbelievable until you see the pictures.

I’ve been following along for a while now. The special trackwork is nothing short of amazing. Until you see the sections he made up in N SCALE! That whole layout is 100% full size, no compression at all - that too is amazing, an exact scale HO layout that is NOT compressed yet is smaller than the ‘traditional’ 4x8 starter layout.
