Model Railroader content

I’m still reading the issue. My first flip-through left me with a good impression. I just started reading the issue in depth, but it looks generally like a good one. I almost always learn something from the tools articles, even though I’ve been involved in the hobby most of my life (that’s a long time, folks!). I also enjoyed reading about David Popp updating his DCC system, even though I’m an NCE user. I haven’t read most of the rest yet, but I think it’ll be interesting.

Overall, I like Terry’s direction with the magazine a little more than I liked Andy’s (no slam on Andy - Terry’s editorial style fits my taste a bit better, that’s all). From my perspective, Terry’s Trains of Thought columns are some of the best since John Page was editor back in the 50s (no, I’m not quite that old, but I have most of those issues).

hasn’t been the same since Jack Work left…

and Mel Thornburgh with his kitchen table locos, and Eric Stevens with his dollar cars…

I browse Model Railroader at the club. The content is sometimes good sometimes not. I guess I get what I pay for.
