Model Railroader DVD's

Has anyone received their second DVD from Model Railroader? I thought they were scheduled for every other month, but maybe I just imagined that. What is the proposed release schedule?

no telling when the next one will be out…they kind’a said generically on the package of the Dream, Plan, Buld DVD “every few months”…which can mean a lot of different things…I liked the first DVD with the commemorative coin of the E-9 and too am waiting for the next one to come out…chuck

I’ll second that I enjoyed and found the 1st helpfull and am waiting for the second…Cox 47

I just got the first one last week! (I must really be on the MRR “B” list). .[:D] I liked it a lot, though. Still trying to decide whether to subscribe… I like the product but hate these “we’ll just keep sending them” schemes.

Got my second DVD from Model Railroader yesterday. Coma with a coin that has a 4-8-8-4 big-boy on it. Pretty neat. Also came with a nice little holder for these coins. Apparently there will be seven coins altogether, thats how many spaces there are in the holder. I thought the new DVD was quite interesting. Hope you all get your’s soon. Joe Voisin Sr.

I received mine in the mail today (1-5-06). Hope to watch it this evening or tomorrow when the wife is at work. (She’s not so interested) Looks like the setup is similar to the first one.

Geee I wish my second one was here[B)] I’m looking forward to the series, Although I’m really quite a ways along on my layout the series is still interesting.[:D]

Are all of the DVD’s going to be $9.95.?
I have only gotten the first one and it had the vague wording that the other DVD’s were going to be “at the regular subscriber price” or something to that affect.
I thought it was a good DVD for the $10 but I can’t see paying much more for it. There wasn’t anything that groundbreaking in them.

The bill I received for the second dvd calls for a payment of 19.95 plus 4.95 shipping and handling for a total cost of 24.90. I’ll be reviewing the dvd before deciding if its worth the cost. But I suspect that I will be keeping it.

John

I never got the first one. Maybe they’re not shipping them to Canada? Any other Canadians get the first one?

My first one came with a EMD FT on it, second one came with the 4-8-8-4.
I’ll be keeping if for nothing else but to show at my clubs bi-annual train sales.
Great video footage though.

Well I got the second one in the mail yesterday[8D] It’s not as good as the first , I feel[:(]
But I’m in for the set I guess, Lots to look at in the way of scenery effects and such.

Got mine on wednesday. Haven’t had time to look at it yet.

Have to agree that it was not as good as the first, but I too will probably be in for the set. I did get some useful information from this one. Felt shorted by the model railroad features. They seemed too focused on the modeler’s philosophy and too much train racing by in the distance.

Anyone else notice that one locomotive truck was half off the rails in the DCC feature? Is this some new technique I don’t know about?

I really liked the how to sections this time (liked the ones on the first one too). They include just enough detail to show you how without it going on and on and getting boring.

Yeah, [#ditto] saw the truck off the rail, I thought it was hilarious.[(-D][(-D][(-D]

I’ve been too busy watching bowl games to check out the dvd, but I
really think the medallion display “thingy” is a piece of cheap JUNK.[:(!]

$24.95 - too costly. IMHO.

Compared to what? Keller DVDs sell for $45 each. Pentrex DVDs sell for $29.95. The Siskiyou Line series sells for $29.95 each.

Comparing the price to $9.95 Hollywood DVDs isn’t a fair comparison, if that’s your measure. You have to look at the price for similar items in the hobby. $24.95 is actually on the low end of the price scale for speciality DVDs like you find in most niche hobbies.

Ditto to what Joe said.

I cant wait for the second one either.
