Model Railroading clubs in southcentral WI

Can anybody tell me where I can find a HO scale model railroading club around the madison area?

Madison’s mostly an N scale town, so it’s not going to be easy. Head over to the WISE Division’s website and look through their links page for area clubs:

I sure can tell you, because I’m a founding memeber of one! The Southern Wisconsin Sandhouse Crew (Or SWSC) is an HO modular model railroad club in the madison area. We are realatively new, only about two years old or so. Most of us are people who tried to join the other HO club in Madison but couldn’t get in because they have stopped accepting any new members. We are always looking for new members though!

We have a modular style layout where each member builds different sections of the layout to certain standards. The layout is power by a Digitrax wireless DCC system, which has been pretty reliable. Even in our short existance we’ve been able to set up to display at a few shows and such. If you went to the Mad City show last year, you may have seen our layout in the large room of the new upstairs section.

Member from any area of southern Wisconsin are welcome. Most of our membership is from the general Madison area though, and so that’s where are meetings are usually held. We do have members from all sorts of other towns though, like Reedsburg, Baraboo, Evansville, Monticello, and others. We meet round robin style in members homes, and normally they are held the third Saturday of the month. If you are really interested in checking out becoming a member, drop me an e-mail off list at hofrichter@jvlnet.com
