I’ve always been interested in trains. Now I collect and build model railroad layouts. My main engines are Amtrack, Southern Pacific diesil, and Union Pacific steam. I believe model railroading is the best hobby in the world! It gets you close to the action but most importantly, it’s fun!! [:D][:D][:D]

I was thinking that myself before I entered, and because of that, I almost didn’t look, but I’m glad I did.
Curiosity will kill me one day…[:p] I wish I had nine lives.
I been in the hobby 54 years and still enjoy every minute of it…However…When I feel the need for speed its time to race my 1/24 and 1/32 slot cars…[:D] However,after attending a HO slot car race last night I might "retire"from the 1/24 and 1/32 races and go HO… [:D]

First of all, welcome to the forum davR1193. Glad to have you aboard.
Secondly, it’s up to each individual railroader as to what rules they may set for themselves-if any. I personally like to keep a neat, clean, organized train room where everything is in its proper place. My layout is covered with a plastic sheet when not in use, and my rolling stock is kept in cabinets with drawers with each drawer labeled as to what’s in it. My layout is of a typical simidesert community with a large pine tree covered mountain at one end with a tunnel going through it, and is versitile so that it serves all eras so that I can run any of my trains without having to change much around. There is nothing immoral, vulgar or distasteful on my layout. No one is allowed into my train room unless I’m in there with them due to the fact that I have a lot of time and money tied up in it and am very protective of it. These are my rules…
And yes. Model railroading is the greatest hobby ever created…

One thing; can you tell us about your modeling? For example:
What’s your preferred Scale?
Can you tell us about your current layout?
Is there a time period you favor?
Is there a particular Amtrak train you model. Do you use Superliner cars, Amfleet, or both?
Are you into “heavy mainline railroading action” or do you prefer industrial lines or rural railroading?
This way if you tell us about your interests we could be of help to you as far as sharing ideas, suggestions, troubleshooting, etc.

Wow, I thought they came up with some more rules! I really enjoy my layout. I will be disapointed when/if I ever get it finished. For me most of the enjoyment is designing/building the layout.
