Amidst all the grouching about high prices, late delivery, out of stock, and stuff that should be on the market, but isn’t, I think we model railroaders have a lot to be thankful for. So I thought to start a thread of all the positive things that we model railroaders have to be thankful for this year.
It could be a specific vendor that you find indispensable, an article that opened up new vistas of model railroading, someone or something that helped you solve a problem, or even just achieving a personal goal, whether it’s running the first train on a new layout or receiving your MMR.
In my case, there are several things. I am thankful for Blackstone, which provides exceptional models that have put my roster years ahead of schedule in getting my layout fully operational.
I’m also thankful for getting scenery and structures on my layout to a credibly complete state this year. Now the fun of detailing takes over.
I am very thankful for this forum and to all the people on it for all the great help I get by reading all the replies to questions other people ask. I also would like to express a special thank you to RICHOTRAIN who helped me build my control panel and getting all of my Tortoise machines installed, and wired up to it. All this was done by this forum’s personal message board.
Again, thank you for this forum and thanks to all.
Although I could say thanks to a number of vendors, etc., I think as it relates to model railroading I am most thankful for the internet. It has allowed me to explore all aspects of this hobby, including research, learning from others and so many other areas. And it’s there every day for me to enjoy.
The list is long so I’ll just choose my top 2. I am thankful for Kadee couplers and the 1984 Atlas RS-3 that introduced precision drives into HO scale plastic locomotive models.
Because I live in a small town/city hours from the nearest hobby shop, I’m thankful for the internet. Also, I’m thankful Hobby Lobby stocks at least some modeling supplies, like lumber and paint.
