man this is embarrasing. and besides my initial question, is it illegal to model without one?[?][?][?][?]
[B)][xx(][8]
Didn’t someone just ask this a week ago?
Naw, the previous thread was about a modelers LICENSE, spelled correctly!
I see it this way. I model what I want and put it on my layout.
The only time when this would cross the line is if I try to sell
the things I model with a trademarked or registered logo on it.
Such as UP, I do not model UP because I feel that they have
gone too far with trying to protect the logo, AND because I
model the eastern coastline. SO… if CSX wants to pry into my
trainroom or Amtrak wants a surprise inspection , so be it,
I go to jail…!!
eastcoast, thank you for a intelligent response, unlike some other folks I know[soapbox]
Locomutt said that if we have to have a modeler’s license, then he’s going to
tear up his scratch builder’s certificate. [:D]

[:p]I earned my M.L. and S.B.C at Imagination University. I am still enrolled
and am currently in a nice skills class. My instructor is Dr. Tryitagain and says
I am doing well.
I also heard that the Class 1 Inspectors are coming house to house
and club to club to reposses the illegal products. The AMC News reports
that this will take until locomotives are all under the same flag.[:D]
Hehe. Seriously, “Modeller’s License” is a term used to describe modelling a scene featuring fictitious elements but with a plausible reason for their being there - like having FM Erie-Builts on a layout set in 2004 (it’s a museum). I’ve enjoyed reading the other interpretations though!
After being around for over 40 years,I believe the piece of paper my license was
orignally printed on,alas,is nothing but dust.[:(][swg]
eastcoast,I believe I might have had the same instructor as you.(same
family tree, probably the father of yours)[:D][}:)]
I’m the one that started this a week ago. I got my License and got caught by the railroad police and was charged with a DWMR, going to court in November.
Modelers license is for someone who doesn’t make a sacred cow out of prototype conformity.

Ouch! I like that!
You should have received one in the first kit you bought…

It’s not illegal to do the model railroad thing without a license, but I believe it is illegal to do the model railroad thing and not have fun! Or at least it should be (wiring frustrations not included - although I must say that after finally figuring it out I get a smile, so I guess it’s ok).
Did John Allen need a Pet Collar and Shot license for his Dino Switcher?
Only if the Dino got its rabies shot lol. I used to love the picture of that “loco.” John Allen sure had fun didn’t he?
