Modeler’s Spotlight Video for April 29, 2010 – Inside Cody’s Office

hey cody
where i can find the 75th anniversary 1:1 scale boxcar

Looking forwards to the 100th Cody’s Office Video. Really enjoyed the different paint schemes of the MR & T Roster from over the years. I got alot out of the track ballasting segment but only have one question. Where do you purchase those pipettes at? I’ve looked everywhere except the right place.

I thought the MR&T paint scheme looked a lot like the MoPac I grew up around and modeled! Thanks for confirming what I expected. I look forward every week to your video, taking a few minutes out of my day to get my Model railroad fix; keep up the great work!

Cant wait for show 100. Great how-to on balasting turnouts. How about a how to on applying decals?

I like the MR&T paint feature. On a layout, it’s important to show a “family” of schemes reflecting different eras. Although admittedly, the MR&T has been around long enough to deserve a lot more history being written down.

How about it? A couple of feature articles on the layout’s history, design and construction as well as operations?

Keep 'em rolling!

Dan

I really liked your ballasting technique. Very informative. As you say, “patience” is the key to realistic ballast. Looking forward to your 100th episode!

Yes, David is going to Popp out of the cake for the 100 episode.

Great part about the MR&T. I spent time with my raiload the GS&M and have 3 paint schemes for the locos and 2 for the caboose that cover the time frame and historey of the railroad. I also have a few scheme both caboose and loco that I call missing link paint schemes. These are trials the railroad did before a new paint scheme was decided on. This blends the old and new schemes.

Also not sure what is going on at MR but the last 2 issues were great! Seems someone is surffing the internet for ideas or problems we are having in the real world.

Thanks E.G.Hall

Cody, Thanks for the modeling tip, it couldn’t have come at a better time as I’m starting a new layout…100 episodes Holy Cow That’s better then some TV shows…I cant wait for it.

Cody I think this is your best episode yet! The topics were great! Your dialogue was spot on! The Modeling tip was helpful! The new opening was very cool! Everything was spot on! But I do have one question, where can I find pecans for Stuckey’s? You made me hungry. Good luck on your 100th episode!

Great show. Any future plans for a new MR&T paint scheme? How about a video showing operation on this layout? I look forward to number “100”.

Cody, Will there be cake with the 100th episode?

Great ballasting hints—went beyond switches

Dear Cody, as an idea to celebrate the 100th episode, I think MR should put together a DVD feature every episode of Cody’s office, and maybe other MR videos as well. Thank you, and look forward to the 100th episode!

Great video, especially your tutorial concerning the ballasting the turnout. I think the key is simply… Don’t rush and take your time.

I am especially happy to see you not wearing a tie while working with an apron… Much better look!

I can’t wait to see episode 100… Makes me want to view the first one again. You guys do really great work promoting model railroading.

Very enjoyable episode! The segment on ballasting was very intriguing and ecouraging…“here’s how I do it, and you can do it too!” it’s one thing to read about it in MR, but it’s a whole other thing to see you doing it, and watch that glue wicking into the ballast! It’s hard to put that into words.

This segment was 2-3 minutes longer than usual. See how much more you can add to a typical episode? I’m all for Cody’s Offices - especially the modellers’ tips! Great job!

OK, I’m hooked … and looking forward to your 100th episode!

Cody I really enjoy watching your video’s, you have given me some great ideas in setting up my o-gauge trains. I hae restarted after 30 years and now it’s even more fun. I have one question I have seen many people use a foam core to hold there loco’s in place while they are working on them but for the life of me I can’t find one to hold o-gauge trains any idea’s of where i can find one. keep up the good work

Well Cody G., and staff another great episode as always. Great tips for ballasting track, and switch points, not to glog them up. The paint schemes are great to for the MR&T. Maybe a paint scheme for the 100th anniversay of the show. Great out takes, and your lucky not to get stuck on Stuckeys. This model brings back alot of memories as a kid in the 60’s going out through Nebraska and the West from Iowa. The old Fire House model reminds me of the old fire station in my home town. Happy railroading to all.

Hi Cody; I really enjoy your presentations. I don’t know how you do it but you seem to hit the very subjects I’m working on, at the time I’m working on them. Keep 'em coming.
