Modeler’s spotlight video for December 24, 2009 – Inside Cody’s Office
Another really great episode, guys! Keep 'em coming! Thanks for keeping the outtakes on there, as well. I really enjoyed the cabinet-workshop tour!
Is it possible to film the “underbelly” of some of the layouts you visit this year for the employee layout tour video? I would really enjoy and appreciate learning more about how everyone keeps their materials and tools on their own personal layouts, and I think most people would enjoy that little extra added into the layout tour, this year.
I really like those employee layout tours and the thanks for braving the snow-filled roads to film those segments, too!
Sincerely,
Cade Scott

Good job as usual!
Re: the outtakes - I look forward to them each week; definitely keep them!
Another Thursday night with Cody, ah. Wait, it’s Wednesday. Must be Santa playing a trick on this old man. Thanks for an early Christmas present Cody & Dave.
O scale is so impressive. I wish I had the room. Moving to DCC is a big enough change for 2009.
Thanks for the tips. I am spraying with Auto paints because of the colors.

Dear Cody,
Very nice episode, I really liked it. I now have another workshop question, well, more of two questions. No. 1) Why do you remove all the parts of the locomotives to test them? No. 2) In the last part of the workshop tour, you were leaning on a toy train layout and behind you I saw another toy train layout. Are they the same, different, or something else, and for that matter, what are they?
Have a Very Merry Christmas Cody and David

Enjoyed the video! I wonder what kind of neat train stuff you and David will receive for xmas!! Happy Holidays to all!
Great job Cody! Merry Christmas!
“And this is one that I prepared earlier”
You know why I said that don’t you!
Really enjoyed that one, especially the workshop tour. Good to see that someone else saw the advantage of a mobile workbench. Mine’s not as well equipped with gear but at least it’s on casters and has lots of drawers.
Seeing those Atlas coaches and their prices makes one wonder why anyone would model a smaller guage.
Oh yes, that’s right, it’s a matter of space. What a shame!
Cody, I’ve been able to keep a large number of bottles of paint useable for several years, but storage has always been a problem. Your plastic container idea may be a viable solution to my problem. Simple but effective. I’ll try it. You and the staff at MR and Kalmbach have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Keep those episodes coming. My oldest issue from MR is dated August, 1965 and sold for 50 cents. I lost a lot in a fire several years ago but it picks up again in 1979. Couldn’t do without them. Happy Train Modelers helps to make this the greatest hobby in the world.
Thanks for all the info you send our way. It’s been a great 2009. Can’t wait for 2010! MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
So I’m not the only one who “cheats” and sprays something with rustoleum!
Hi Cody,
great episode. Can you tell me what shade/brand the blue colour is on the coved back drop in the photo area?
I was beginning to think I had been cheated out of my Cody’s office for this week! Imagine my surprise at a bonus classic episode! Well done, and Happy Holidays to all the Kalmbach staff!
Thank You!

Cody. Do you have a Plano part number for that storage container? Or at least, can you tell me what store you got it at? All the sporting good stores around here dont seem to have that perticular sized Plano container. I just bought a Plano tackle box a month ago prior to this episode for keeping all my modeling tools and equipment in and it works very slick. Yet, I never seen a case that size at any of the stores I went to. They were all to small.
I like the out take feature it proves that we all our human. I have been using the Plano boxes for several years for tools and small parts, now I am going to get some for my paints,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Great show, Merry Christmas to you all.
Hi Cody,
Happy Holidays to you and the folks at MR. I have been into model railroading for most of my life, and think it is one of the greatest hobbies. I would like Kalmback to consider doing a TV show series for the general public, similar to the New Yankee Workshop series. This show made woodworking and cabinet making interesting and available to many people. Tracks Ahead was interesting, but it did not focus on the basics of building a layout. Building benchwork, track laying, scenery, wiring and creating models would make a great series. The group could also build layouts for donation to worthy groups and individuals. This would be a great way to build the hobby for model railroad manufacturers and create a greater public awarness of our hobby. Layouts could be built for apartment dwellers as well as those with hundreds of square feet available.
Let us spread the word about our hobby.
