Modeler’s spotlight video for February 25, 2010 – Inside Cody’s Office

hey cody

how long do it take to make a cody`s office episodes

Adam

Can’t wait to see the video for the layout progress tour and the MR&T layout tour!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Great show Cody! I can’t wait for the layout tours. It looks like the big MR&T project will be one to look forward to in coming months. I know I’ll be watching for Andy Sperandeo’s and Jim Hediger’s layouts. I’m also anxious to see the latest of Dave Popp’s Naugatuck Valley.

I’m just curious but has anyone there ever thought of revisiting or re-creating an earlier layout from long ago? There was an article a year or so ago of a modeler who built a version of John Allen’s Gorre and Daphetid. What about another “layout classic”?

Why are smokeboxes (and stacks) frequently “painted” silver or other colors than the black (or other color, E.g. Southern Green") of the locomotive itself?

I’m stumped!

Another great show Cody! I am also looking forward to the new progress videos as well as seeing more of the MR&T. Keep up the great work!!!

Great as always - really looking forward to layout tours, especially that of MRT. Keep up good work.

Great Episode!!!

Great Episode!!!

Can not wait to see the Layouts. MR&T and Mr. Popps both are High on my list of layouts to see.

Hi Cody,
My father was a machinist by trade and he told me you should also keep separate files for steel, aluminum and brass. Good tip to keep separate files for plastic also.
Great show.
George

Cody,

Great episode as always.

I’ve been wondering, how long ago did you record your segments of the Dream Plan Build series? For certain, you’ve definitely become a lot more comfortable in front of the camera since starting Cody’s office.

Twins win the world series this year in 5. Mauer wins his third batting crown. All is good in the Cities.

To your continued success,

George

Are you going to have a video tour of Rony Koester’s layout?

Cody, great show. Your pacfic problem was quite true, back in the 1950’s, but there is only 2 pacfics to remember today, Canadian Pacfic and my favorite, Union Pacfic.

Hi Cody

Could you show a few more N layouts ?

I’m in the process of designing and collecting rolling stock etc. for an early period logging operation . Managed to get an Atlas Shay Loco , but haven’t been able to find any other steamers that may have been used by early loggers . Can you suggest sources for locos , cars , and structures ? I have the MR logging books .
Thanks for you attention .

Jim Rothhammer .
Looking foward to the next Cody’s Office .

Cody, I really like it when you show the layouts in the tour video. Maybe you should include the MR&T on the tour. Any hints as to what David was trying to cover up?

Cody,

Having lived 43 of my 51 years near the Atlantic, I feel greatly shunned by the favoritism you showed the Pacific this week. How about some kudos for the “other” coast!

Another great episode, some additional file tips, if you have mixed files with no cases to use on plastic and metal just paint the handles a different color or even dip them in a liquid vinyl product like “STAR BRITE” brand or “Liquid Electrical Tape” brand from Micro-Mark, even Radio Shack sells a variety, these product are a liquid vinyl available in different colors that can both identify and ad more grip to small files and other tools like mini-pliers. Last of all a commercial or welders file cleaner has very short stiff bristles and works great cleaning even small files.

Thanks again for mentioning my name last week on the show. The kids, and their dad (me) thought it was GREAT!

Mark

I look forward to your show each week. A trick I have learned from my many years as a Tool and Die Maker is to get a piece of blue builders chalk, the little half ball from the lumber store, and run the file across it to fill the teeth of the file. It will lubricate the file and keep the metal and plastic from embedding into the teeth. After cleaning the file with the brush, recoat the file teeth and you are ready to go again.

Hey Cody, great show as always.

I thought that in a previous episode you said gondola was pronounced GON-do-la, yet now you used the term gon-DO-la. Which is it, you got this old man confused.

Keep up the good work.

David and Cody Thank You so much for the hard work you put into the “office Series”. It is great fun and informative. The latest was a real Hoot.Of all the episodes I still think the Christmas Past episode is the best.Keep at it, as you always better yourselves with each episode! And isn’t that what the hobby is all about?Constant improvement.Thats what I look for in myself. Thanks and GOD Bless.
