Modeler's spotlight video for February 26, 2009 -- Inside Cody's office

Cody,
Love your shows, and have added each new one to my every-other-week routine.

Thank you for featuring N-scale products. Love your outtakes!

Congratulations on your 50th episode - may there be many more!

Have you done any episodes on airbrushing 101 or painting structures/rolling stock without an airbrush?

How about a tour of your office, or your modelling desktop/workspace? (Your 5 or 10 favorite tools…)

I look forward to more episodes!

Your articles in MR are cool too!

congratulations on 50 shows, I look forward every month to your video blog, this months tip was especially interesting. I am just getting in to DCC and any tip is great. Any one know how to wire a crossover in DCC?

Is there a e-mail adress for you ? Rick

Hi Cody this first time see your video that great what round with DCC and new model.
I fine more on the north east coast for modeling with trains that run over there after read about Mane Central railroader in the mountain in the 1945- 1970

Inquiring minds want to know; Cody, I watched the first video after this month’s episode and I was wondering; How could the reader mail letter be refering to the blue ball and say they could not make it out in the video’s “if” in fact that was the “FIRST” video???

Gotcha!

Ya know Cody, I gotta tell ya I love those outakes!

Congratulations on 50 shows and long may they continue. I thoroughly enjoy your video clips and the sense of humour that you and David show off. P.S. I don’t know about your snow piles but the ones around here sure have taken a beating lately.

No helium was inhaled? Why not!?

Cody and David,

Thanks for taking the time to film all the episodes. I really look forward to seeing the weekly episode. Keep up the good work and for sharing the outtakes. You look like you are really having a great time while sharing information with all of us.

HAPPY 50th
When MR added the website I was not sure I would enjoy it, still being a traditional newspaper in the morning, magazine kind of person. Since the addition of Cody’s office I look forward to every week and checking out the site. I enjoy the modeling tips and the humor of the outtakes.
I have two questions that I always wondered about. They are about the product reviews. Do you get models unsolicited from companies who want you to do a review or do you choose what to review and ask for a sample? What happens to the models after you review them?
Keep up the good work.

I have a suggestion for William Axelrod’s question about a sprayer. I had the same problem – the spray wasn’t fine enough no matter the bottle or how it was adjusted. I finally tried a spray bottle that originally had cleaner for eye glasses, which is esssentially an isopropanol solution. It produces a really fine mist. I got mine at Lenscrafters, but any place that sells eye glasses probably has some sort of cleaner spray for sale. I fill it with isopropanol (whatever % you like) bought at my local grocery store. If you don’t wear glasses I think it would be worth it to buy it any way, just to get the bottle. A 6 ounce bottle is $6.99. I no longer have the problem of ground cover and ballast being blasted all over the place. You still have to hold the bottle about a foot above whatever you are sparying though.

Hey Cody - Congratulations on the 50th episode. I Have been following your show now for some time now. When you first started did you anticipate “Codys Office” being as popular as it has turned out to be?

PS Be careful of elevators when attempting to handle ballons…

I am having trouble finding a mist sprayer to wet ground foam before adding the matte medium. I tried Woodland scenics but the spray comes out on drops and is not useful. I have also tries a number of sprayers from detergents, etc. and they exhibit the same problem. Any suggestions?

Graduated from high school in 1963! That guy is as old as I am.

Seriously, thanks for all the good work Cody and keep up the outtakes at the end of some episodes. I always look forward to them.

Can’t wait for Friday to come and watch your new video. Keep up the good work.

Great APRIL joke with the Jaws elevator skit at the end. Good work the past year, Cody. I’ve enjoyed watching.

congrats on 50th enjoy the shows

Congrats on the 50th. Another fine production of MR. Cody, keep up the good work. How about more in the field videos, maybe on the Beer Line, or David’s layout, or the MRT? Thanks, Dan

I agree with all of the above. No matter what you present, you are doing a great job. I hope to watch many more episodes into the future.

Cody,
50 episodes wow! Thats like one entire year of weakly, I mean weekly episodes. How about MRM putting out a DVD of all of the years modeling tips from the show? The outtakes can be added as filler. I enjoy each weekly episode and hope the powers to be will keep this great subscriber only service going. Besides the magazine it is my favorite subscriber extra!

Thanks, Mark

Congratulations on your 50th episode, Cody. I liked your demonstration of the CV4 coast braking. The C420 in Long Island Worlds Fair paint looked really sharp running on MR’s layout.
