Modeler's spotlight video for March 19, 2009 -- Inside Cody's office

Cody,
Always look forward to Cody’s Office. While I like the reviews the tips are the highpoint. Could you put a little more light onto the desk–it’s hard to see dark painted objects when they’re not brightly lite. Thanks!

Great show! love the cups! Thank you for the modelling tip, it will come in very handy when i redo some old cars.

Great tip this week Cody. Just curious…why did they have to paint out the lettering on the Sorento Cheese car on the prototype? I’m assuming some sort of legal issue?

Thank for including scale sleeves. Nice touch.
Fridays will no longer be Fridays without your video.
You and David Popp do a great job.
Keep those videos and good humor coming.

Cody,
Again another great program. Excellent tip for the decal removal. Really enjoy the cup sleeves. I’m involved in a operating session tomorrow night with Andy while he is visiting in the Pontiac, MI area. Picked him up last night at the train station. I’m quessing he is going to run Sandy Hook Yard.on Mikes C&O Clifton Forge Branch. I plan on taking the cups over to let the crew use. Looking forward to the operating session. Keep up the great work. How can I get a Kalmbach Shirt?

Dave

Great tip! I have a loco which needs renumbering so I’ll give it a try!

Very useful ideas thanks.
How about using Chinchilla dust, very cheap from pet stores, as a sandy path (it’s a sandy color) or painted for an asphalt or dirt surface. Maybe usable for track ballast too!

Google Ron+Gager for pics of my club and my own North American and other layouts in UK.

Great i think i will get another cheese car and remove the lettering so i can have one with lettering and one without.

great tip . now i know how to remove unwanted decals. i am sure you coffee drinkers will not mind if i drink tea out of my cody cup.

Do you guys think that you can do one on the MTH H.O. scale class J
on the MR&T layout,

Hey Cody: On one of your videos you used very long pipettes to spread glue over track ballast. Do you know where they can be found. I have look at many outlets but can’t find them. Keep up the good work. Always look forward to your shows.

Thanks, Mel

Hi Cody,

Since I’m not a coffee drinker, I adapted your cup sleeve
to my insulated Mt Dew can holder…looks great !!
Keep up the good work. Really enjoying your show.

Regards,
Ed

Aaaahhh! Coffee with Cody! what a way to relax at the end of the
week while watching him in his office.
Be careful with that brake fluid that some have suggested though, don’t leave it on too long. I’ve seen it take auto paint right off to the bare metal.
(Other ways that fellow Kalmbach employees could use those cups;
1.cut the picture out and stick it on your dart board.
2.stick it on your basketball backboard
3.glue them on to your tenpin pins
Oh, I can see the printers and copiers working overtime at Kalmbach)

Cody, great video, great modeling tip. Cool cups, will try and download a few. If the regulators would only worry about all the graffitti on the trains, they would look much better. The good ole days we didn’t have all the (jhfkhfhf), and junk on the cars, and other pieces of rolling stock. My how times have changed. Keep up the great work.

Hey Cody nice show! i will have to get one of my own SW1000s in my own railroad. any tips on how to get a manufacture like atlas or athearn to make two road name for a fictional railroad?

hey cody i love your show i allways watch it and i have a question i amd building a layout useing 18inch radius curves laught at me if u want cause its only 4x8 but i want to know can i run dash nines and ac4400s on this sharp of a radius and i really dont care if it does over hang thanks cody zachary flowe

I can see it now, a whole line of dishes by Cody. Cody cups, plates and silverware.

Dave and Cody, great job as usual. If you guys get serious about ceramic mugs, check out Cafepress.com They will put your logo on all sorts of items. A non-model railroad web site I frequent uses it to sell logo’d items and gets a profit from each item sold with their logo. You could also use them to get a coffee mug with the logo of your freelanced railroad.

thanks for that tip for removing lettering of Athearn cars, i’ll have to try it.

Just wanted to say a “thank you” to Dana for the reply to the question I posted with last weeks Modeler’s spotlight video in regards to the Train Barn up in Portage, Michigan that will be closing in July. I will have to see if I can find copies of those particular magazines that had the stories in them that featured the Train Barn. I appreciate the help and response.

Thank you,
Kevin Brouse
