Modeler’s Spotlight Video–Inside Cody’s Office for April 14, 2011

hey cody i like the opeing credits

HA! HA! very funny!

Hi Cody,

Enjoyed your “how to” on roofing in the latest installment of Cody’s office. I’m curious as to the tape you used to stick the paper strips on prior to adding the adhesive spray. What kind of double stick tape is it and where can I find it?

Thanks,

Cool new intro. How was it filmed?

It look like you guy have a little bit to much fun. Keep up the good work, Cody and company.,

As always a great show. Always learn something new.
Thanks all.

nice tip on the roofing. great minds thing a like right Cody, I thought of that not long ago when i was building a small work shed for my HO layout but I used excel and scaled down the Cells to fit a three tab shingles and used masking tape to layer them together and used white glue to tack the tape to the wood roof base

Loved the opening also. These keep getting better and better.

Cody;
While your fractional measurement for the tar paper roof looks and works well for most people, as long as you’re going to make your own roofing material, why not scale it for width, just like the rest of the model. If you want to really add realism, Not only go for the width, but for the length. While you may be able to put on a length of tar paper on your first lower row, depending on the width of the roof in relation to the length of a roll of tar paper, you will then have a splice in your material on perhaps the next row. These splices will vary in their location over the roof area. In other words a roofing company and your budget probably won’t have continous lengths of material across the roof. All said that’s a great modeling tip for modelers.

I’ve used pages from a telephone book for roofing paper. The page thickness being very thin but still strong and holds up well for painting before cutting into strips. A Glue stick is used on the back backside of the paper before applying to the roof. This was from a Jack Work article publishesd in MRR long ago. He used thined down white wood glue.

Ohhhhh…Noooooo…it’s Mr. Flexi

sounds like mr flex is related to mr bill ha ha

Another great episode of Codys Office. I enjoy each and every one. Oh, and Mr. Flexi…Win-ner. Keep 'em coming.

Mr. Flexi rules! maybe he can do Cody’s office when
your on vacation.

Hi Cody;
Great video! Will Mr. Flexi make return visits in upcoming office visits? He might be of some help during your presentations. He can only keep on tracking . . .

Warning: If you put some ballast under Mr. Flexi and you may run over him!

Cody,

How do you go about transferring a 3D home layout into a 2D track plan displayed in the magazine. I have always been curious about getting the 3D track works and buildings from the layout into the displayed 2D track plan in the magazine.

Thanks

hahaahaa , Love the new intro guys!! Well done!!

Was Mr. Flexi “hired” in case Cody’s sports career took off? Cody, glad you’re back!
