Modeler’s Spotlight Video – Inside Cody’s Office for January 12, 2012

hey cody cool episode happy 2012

great segment, love the info on building structures.

I’d been wondering when Cody was going to make another appearance.

It looks like his barber might be wondering the same thing.

Hey Cody! it seems that you scared Mr. Flexy by suggesting he should be installed on a layout. He will probably approach you very carefully next time you meet .
Good luck, Mister Flexy

Hi Cody,

I have some old N scale (code 80) Mr Flexy that I would like to recycle the rail from and try hand laying track on my HO scale layout. Could you recommend what tools I would need, type of wood for the ties and the best method for hand laying track.

Really enjoy the videos.

Thanks.

Well done episode. Happy New year!

Cody, Happy New Year, great video as always, great to have you guys back and OH Mr. Flexi (AKA David Popp) as if you could not tell. I use a small soft bristle paint brush to remove dust from my locos and rolling stock, works great. Another idea for removing the D shaped is to cut between the two end ties with a small xuron cutter or a small spru cutter, this way the ties still remain. You can find a small cutter at store like harbor freight toll for around two or three dollars. See all you guys next time on Codys office.

Mr. Flexi is GREAT! Reminds me of when the operative phrase was “Model Railroading is Fun”.

Out of all the corny “out-takes,” I like Cody’s throwaway line about being installed on a layout the best…

Thought it was a good artlcle to start off the New Year. I liked the part on the various clamps. I neer thought to use a irwin clamp. Thanks for the tip!

I’m really enjoying all of Cody’s office - Keep up the great work.

All good , way to go but Tweens don’t have a chance…

Sorry Cody, but I think the St. Louis Cardinals will do it again… Go Cardinals!

Cody,

Nice video.

I was rereading the June 2004 copy of MR and in your guest editorial you talked about what era, class, road, etc. to model on a future layout. Long time readers look forward to a track plan and some progress photos.

Just wondering why you decided to paint the fascia RED?

Cody,
Here, down-under, I can access “Cody’s Office” on a Wednesday night. [Au is UTC +10 and CT is UTC -6, for a difference of 16 hrs.]. It always suggests one can check out the “latest products” section for further product information. I have noticed that it occurs two days later. Perhaps you may be able to alter you schedule for them to be concurrent. I love the “Office” segment and am waiting with’ baited breath’ for it to go weekly. I also know you have a GREAT magazine to edit/produce and your time will be at a premium.

You realy shouldn’t scare Mr. Flexi like that. How would you like it if someone threatened t install you on the layout?

In all seriousness, how do you shrink a person to N scale (1/160 of normal size? I would really love to put figures representing my sons and daughters in law on my layout.

Irv

Cody, thanks for the info on various clamps for buildings. Great episode as usual.

I notice you said something about painting ballast and track do you have to remove the paint from the track after so electrical contact is established? Also if you have a return loop in DCC do you need a reverser ?
