Could you repeat the name of the company that makes the corner clamps.
Great explanation and demo of eliminating the D ends of
manufactured track sections and how to replace them with unused/extra ties from other sections!
I don’t know who came up with the idea for Mr. Flexi, but I always get a good laugh from him. My favorite was when Cody was demonstrating the use of Rail Nippers; “If we could get an assist from Mr. Flexi…”
“Oh, no you don’t!!” I assume David Popp provides the voice.
Good episode. One comment: When using plastic ties from scrap track, you probably will have to sand them down a little to fit under the rail joiners. That is after you remove the cast on spikes, which you mentioned.
As for “Mr. Flexi”, isn’t there a project layout calling his name?
Just for Mr. Flexi’s protection, I suggest that he have a big stick carry him a round for a while.
Cody, this episode sure was packed full of especially useful information. I need to run it through a couple more times and take notes. That was really good stuff! Thanks.
Happy 2012!!! CODY!!!
Hey Cody; You’re not getting older you’re getting better. Good show. Really enjoy your tips.
I think a video on handlaid track would be very worthwhile. By the way, how is the home layout coming along?
good work! i enjoy this series very much. how far did the d-rail bits fly when you nipped them off?
Cody,
Really enjoy your explanations and demonstrations. However, many of the comments that follow include questions which are of interest to me but there are no answers given. Where do I find them?
Very informative and helpful. Greater detail might help.
Thanks for the tips.
I got a Kato SD38-2 for Christmas. I want to model a patchout but I need to change the numberboards. I want to know if this is possible without doing away with the prototypical illuminated numberboard feature. Is this possible?
I use my airbrush compresser for cleaning my railroad.
I hold the compressed air hose in one hand and a vacume wand in the other to draw the dust away. I also fit the end of the vacume with a piece of fine window screen to catch anything that may blow off but I don’t want to lose. This works well for me.
In the modeler’s tip section, a Walthers building box magically appears in the brown cardboard box behind Cody! Did Santa deliver a late present?
Always an enjoyable and informative video
Can you repeat the name of the splice joint clamp and the right angle clamp. Couldn’t hear it on the video. You went to fast for my old ears. Otherwise keep the videos coming they are very helpful.
Good to see Mr Flexi back. Strange how you never see him and David Popp together in the same room?! Are they related? Perhaps we should be told!
i notice that you use an airbrush to paint your rails. how do you clean the rails for electrical contact afterward? do you spray before, or after, ballasting? thanks, enjoy the show.
Another good report!
Any photographers among the audience/readership may have already a puffer or puffer/brush. I use the puffer. It’s intended for blowing dust off colour slides or negatives but it’s an excellent tool for removing dust from models.
Regards.
