Nice Episode Cody. I have been a little busy with school and summertime to comment on videos but I still see that you are still making really good ones!
I do have a question; if I used the India ink wash to weather a plastic freight car, would I need to add a special finish to the model before I did that? Do you have any suggestions on how I would do that? I am wanting to expand my types of weathering.
Glad you covered the types of glue to use when positioning miniature people and accessories for temporary or permanent positioning on layouts and dioramas. Are there any archived articles on the many and varied adhesives and chemical clean ups to use safely?
When I try to play your video. I am getting popups from “Adobe Flash Player Settings” saying an “player.ooyala.com” wants access to my computer. What stuff are you adding to your web sites?
Once again Cody these are very good articles. I would like to know were you purchased the orange sticks in the beginning of the article, and what was the name of that glue you used to glue the strip wood to your dock.
I was intrigued by the sound system in that mechanical reefer you reviewed. Why couldn’t some manufacturer market a freight car or baggage car with a locomotive sound system in it? The customer could couple the car behind a locomotive tender or diesel unit and instantly convert an old favorite into a sound equipped beauty.
Was looking at the track plans for the ‘South Pacific Dalsa Cutoff’ a while ago and now I can’t find it due to the links being changed. Has it been removed??
Cody, I realy enjoy Cody’s office but I noticed lately that the sound track was off a little. Please let me know if it’s on my end our something your not aware of. Keep up the good work.
The bloopers at the video end are great, funny, and lighten up
the review. Sometimes we take ourselves to seriously.
One of my favorite sets of pictures to review are of John Allens
Gorrie and Dephided, spelled wrong, and I wondered how he would have liked the trains of today with DCC and sound. I wonder if you could mention something of his skills like his floor to roof mountains etc. Thanks, Ted
Cody, great show as always. It’s still great to see the out takes. I hope that you will be in Atlanta next weekend for the NMRA. I would like to meet you in person. Can’t wait!! for the show that is. LOL
Is Cody’s office going to be a once a month feature or will it be moved to the MR cable vision? I find the show quite informative and enjoy the outtakes at the end.
Cody, in your Modeling Tip segment, when you are attaching the scale wood to the dock, you have a small open dish of CA in front of you. Have you ever noticed fumes from CA (or MEK or Paint Thinner) affecting the coating on your eyeglasses?
I think these fumes have affected my glasses in the past (crazing the coatings), so now I use an older (patchy) pair of eyeglasses when gluing and keep my new glasses in a different room (which may be overkill). Am I being paranoid?
Cody, I noticed that when you and other MR staff members describe a model building project it is demonstrated on a separate board surface that has a grid printed on it. You also seem to cut, cement and use it to align the parts on it. Can you please tell me what type of board you are using and where can it be obtained.
Keep up the good work, the bloopers make a serious subject very enjoyable. Thanks
Hello all, I’ll try to answer a few of the technical questions with the same post:
Ray and Gene, if you are having trouble with the audio or video playback, chances are good you simply need to update your computer to the latest version of your web browser. If that doesn’t fix it, please contact our customer service department at 1-800-533-6644. They can talk you through a simple test to locate the problem and get you up and running again.
Walter, not to worry about Cody leaving ModelRailroader.com. While the show is shared by both MR Video Plus and MR, it is an MR fixture and will remain so as long as Cody still works here. And yes, once a month is the frequency it has maintained for the past couple of years.
Mr. Fowler, I’m sorry but I have no idea what to tell you on the messages you are getting with the videos. It does not sound normal to me. Please call our customer service department on that one (1-800-533-6644).
James Sirmons, the wedding episodes are Cody 61 and 62 in the second season. You can find the episode guide by going to Cody’s Office on ModelRailroader.com.
Hi Cody,
You usually cover your freight car weathering techniques with a airbrush but how do you weather a freight car correctly with a paintbrush and water based acrylics?
thank you cody on simple solution to staining wood.easier than and less messy than the way we did it.learn something new all the time. keep it up and enjoy mrr. crt
Cody, I really need your help. I am 80 years old and need terminal rail joiners to run an N scale railroad. I am only able to access online stores as there are no hobby shops on Staten Island Do you know of any hobby shops that have them? Walthers does not list any online.
