Modeler’s Spotlight Video – Inside Cody’s Office for July 2014

Great episode, Cody. Ill Railway Museum is restoring a snowplow similar to the one highlighted this month in Chicago Great Western.

Another great Cody’s office. I was wondering if MR has any plans to feature the MR&T as its layout visit in any upcoming issues? would be great to see some updated pics

Thanks

Jeremy

you forgot to mention the Walthers Russell snow plows also come in a DCC Version.

I have commented several times on different videos and it always says it needs to be approved, which is fine, but then I forget where I have made my comments or if the comment has even been approve, isn’t there a way for MR/MRPlus advise people when there comments are approved and where??

Thanks…

Hi Cody, thanks for another great episode. I had a question about track. I am planning a new layout that will incorporate DCC. This will be the first time I have used DCC and for the track I was going to use PECO products. I noticed that they offer their turnouts with either an Insulfrog or an Electrofrog and was curious which would be better for DCC or if it even mattered? Thanks for all that you do.

i live in the same town i sc that hack saw does great show cody never miss one

Hi Cody, I have a question about how those snowplow cabooses work and where on the train it would be located. And also would they actually house the conductor still? Thanks-Owen

Hi Cody,
How about something on weathering old unpainted wood that has that silvery gray look to it almost like driftwood?

Cody, what happened to the great opening you had for Cody’s Office with the run-away boxcar? Your present opening is “ok”, but the boxcar one was exceptional. Any chance of it coming back?

Great session Cody. On that crackle paint, could you undercoat that with another color and then flake off pieces to show an older paint job? What type of paint would work best under the crackle coat? Water-based or oil-based? Thanks.

Thank you for the invitation to the National Train Show in Cleveland, Ohio. I’ll be there on Saturday the 19th and am looking forward to meeting you and the other MRV crew members.

Not to pick too many nits, but I believe that “V-shape plow” underneath the Russell Plow, is actually the flanger blade.

I wondered if you could demonstrate a long shove operation? And what to do with a hold car in the spur blocking the other car that needs to be moved?

I know that the article was in March '14, but I still don’t understand it.

Thanks Cody Grivno and Andy Sperandeo!

Do you have to be a NMRA member to go to the convention?

Has anyone ever explained signal lights? Ie crossing lights, I understand, but red and green lights for switched open or closed, light for moving on and off track lines etc. is there not a video in this? Also about installation, both DC and DCC.

You have mentioned MU several times in your articles. What does MU stand for?

Hi Cody

My son will be possibly traveling through your area on his way home from Prince George,British Columbia to Halifax, I suggested he stop in an visit you for a Tour of the MR&T. I don’t know what your protocol is for a tour of the MR&T, hell you may even make a quick video, he use to crash my trains to the concrete when he was 4 yrs old, ran out of track. I would be in your debt if you could accommodate him for a tour and his girlfriend, she is really cute.

Hi, Cody!
How do you model the transition from the mainline into a multi-siding yard? The mainline will have cork ballast; the yard will not. Should the yard be raised to keep a uniform track height, or does the track decline into the yard? Is there an example on the MR&T that you could show?

Hey Cody! Love the show!

I am new to model railroading and I’m wondering if you could point me to any DCC systems for people who have no idea what they’re doing.
