Modeler’s Spotlight Video–Inside Cody’s Office for May 17, 2012

Hey Cody,
Thanks for another great episode. I was watching the video on operating the virginian layout and was wondering how david popp developed the operating sequence for the layout. I have a small layout and would like to develope one for my own layout’s operations.

Thanks

Cody,
Thanks for another great episode. I have a question about the Virginian project layout. I had noticed the Moonshine Bar and it’s corrugated roofing. Can you explain the technique for weathering the roof to look like rust?
Thanks

How do I find answers for questions ask?

hey cody
cool 1953 Ford Customline Station wagon i have to get some for my layout!!!

Cool episode Cody.

I was wondering if you could tell me what all the train boxes were at approximately 4:30. You were doing the modeling tip in the workshop. Was that also a Nike shoe box?! I have always wondered what they had in them if anything.

Thanks,
Alexander

@ 5:31…the “horizontal pieces of the window” are called horizontal mullions. They can be either structural or non-structural. Always fun to watch your programs.

When do we find out who won the Track Planning Contest? Will the winners be on the website?

Dear Cody,

Is there an HO model of a road milling machine? My second favorite hobby is construction and road paving. It would be cool to have a model of a road resurfacing project next to the train tracks.

Thank You Cody,
Alexander

Cody,

Always enjoy your show.
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen anyone making S,P & S series #860-871 steel cabooses that are not brass.
Thanks

Hi Cody,

Modelers who use Pledge with Future floor wax as a gloss coat on their models might want to know that they can also use it to secure clear glazing in windows. It also dries perfectly clear so it won’t show on the finished model.

So long,

Andy

Cody,
I like the 53 Ford’s I wish that they would come out a Ford 2 door sedan in gray David P Morgan had one him and Philip Hastings chased trains all over the this country and Canada
you can see it in Search of Steam .And as I model the transition era and have some rail fans on my layout it would look good.

Hey Cody
Would yo consider putting together a step by step instructional piece on setting a layout up for operation? Most of what is out there jumps right in and has little guidance as to how to start the with the basics?

Welcome to my home town ( Sioux Falls ) hope you get a chance to visit our club at the fairgrounds.

another winner cody cody the machine you were calling a back hoe we all called them track hoes because they were not on tires and the bucket is on the front

Great job, Cody!
You’re getting good at this. I’d like to see a daily show of the “weather” in your office, whose doing what.
Your music and audience aplause is great!
You’ve got a future at last!
Greg

Hey Cody As always a very interesting video. My question is about MV Lens and LED. Having an LED installed in one of my Loco with MV lens, what needs to be done to the Lens so the light from the LED reflects through the lens?

Just a note that the website you mentioned has a “forward slash” and not a “backslash” in its address. The former will get you there, the latter will not.

After many (many) years, I joined an N scale club. The members run long trains of 30-40 cars. When I run similar locomotives, I can only get half that number to move. All of my cars are weighted in accordance with the published standard whereas theirs are right out of the box. My string of cars looks short when compared to theirs. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Bert

Cody, good job again and thanks for your continuing contributions in model railroading.

I wanted to say “Hi” from the Tri-State Model Railroaders based in Mineral Bluff Georgia.
