hi i model bnsf in the southwestern part of the usa shortly after the merger in ho scale. i was wondering if you could give me some tips on what kind of rolling stock, locomotives, and structures to model. thanks
I also model BNSF in the southwest. I run most any modern deisel that the prototype runs I run ATSF, BNSF in different paint as the BNSF has many diffrerent types.
Most any modern freight car is good.
Some of my industries are a lumber yard, printing plant, plastic pellet unloading, grocery wholesale ect.
While my layout is not based on any one area I keep the scenery simular to the Winslow AZ area and follow the BNSF operating system for the area.
There are many good sources for imformation on the web, a search should find a lot.
If you can find one of the Roster books printed it will give you a guide to what locomotivves to run, there are rosters on the net also.
I model BNSF in summer 2000 in north Texas. I run SD70’s and AC units on the main, GP40’s in my yards, in a combo of Heritage I & II, executive, and modified BN or ATSF paint schemes (the variety of paint is one of the pluses of modeling merger era).
